Default air bag light

i had removed my seat a couple of months ago to put racing seats in. . .so i had to disconnect the sensors underneath. its been a long time and my light still continues to blink, it even passed a toyta inspection that way. does anyone know how to turn this off? ive tried pulling the efi fuse and disconecting the battery but no luck. i also dont want to pay the $80 to have the dealer do it. thanx

When you removed the passenger seat, you removed the passenger seat weight sensor so unless you replace that or bypass the sensor wiring you're going to get an airbag light.

The light's warning that the system may not work properly in the case of an accident. Removing the seats fudges up the passenger weight and seat position sensors if you did it with the battery connected.

Anyone know how to do this yet? The damn dealer wants $90 to reset a damn light. My friend works at Lexus in service and said it takes 5 minutes TOPS to do this. Unfortunately his tool can't do it on anything other than a Lexus. He told me that you have to use the tool, you just can't disconnect the battery since it stores it in backup memory on the ecu. Please help, this is rediculous they want that much $$

Tell the service manager that you don't believe it should cost $90 and you want to see where that goes first hand. If he starts to feed you a line of "we charge by the hour" tell him you would like to speak with one of the scion mechanics about what is entailed. When you talk with the mechanic, offer them $20 on the side when he's off work for him to show you what is needed to reset the light. Create a write-up and post it. I'm sure it's a simple 5 maybe 10 minute fix. Go ballistic if the shop manager says there's nothing he can do. Things like reseting lights on a dash should be public knowledge anyway. I'm sure there are many mechanics who would love to earn $20 for five minutes of work.

I know how you get $90 out of this.
1) Read Computer - $45
2) Fix Problem - FREE
3) Read & Clear computer - $45

No I am not kidding.
The shop I used to goto charged $45 to read the computer.

what if you only took out the drivers side? would that trigger the light? and if it does, will your airbag still work?

Airbags will NOT work if the light is on, under ANY circumstance.

This is interesting, as i have had my seats ( both front ) out several times to install stereo equipment. I have never had a problem with the airbag icon showing up.

I did however remove the bulb for the passenger side NO SEAT BELT as i was tired of looking at it while my GF was sitting in the seat.

That's what I was going to suggest but I think he wants the airbag to work also.
