108 hp engine pushing over 2500lbs not sure what you can expect......start with your intake (cold or short RAM, decent ones average about $100.00) headers (about $250) and exhaust (another 200-250)....for under $600.00 you should be able to increase your horsepower by at least 10 hp .....and are all mods that you can do yourself ..

once your done with that, work on stiffining the already stiff car..make it even more responsive at high speeds on those curves...that is one of the best attributes about the xB...how it handles

I love my xB!

C'mon, its only a 15K car! And you get A LOT for the $$. Heck, put in another 1K (!?!!) for shocks, deadening, springs, I/H/E and you have a great little car. For 16K + change.

Unfair to compare with MBZ, Lexus, even Camry/Accord. All cost a lot more than a modded xB...and aren't half as fun to drive! And as a side note, my deadened box is way quieter than my wife's C-Class!

06BOX, it sounds like you are on the right track. Mod away and make it yours!

Sound deadening will be here Tuesday from UPS is showing me.

Planning on ordering Tech H-techs even though I really want the ground control coils w/ custom springs and monroe shocks for each corner.

H-techs for $180 shipped - Shocks for $220 shipped.... mission ACCOMPLISHED!

At least I hope.

Of course, wheels and tires have already been selected and priced although I will want to save up for those.

I must always keep in mind the other member of my household through all these purchases.

Figured I'd update this to let everyone know that I just order the rear Monroe shocks for $79.50 shipped. I decided again the fronts after talking to quite a few people.

H-techs ordered.. now to have some supreme install day to completely transform my xB.

Pictures taken along the way.

Next up... wheels and tires

What wheels are you leaning towards? I just (finally!) got my mine on. Took almost a year. What a difference in looks and handling. I am lucky here...my wife understands my love for the xB modding. I understand her love of shoes and handbags!

I'm far from complaining about my box, I love this thing. I've already have a strut tower bar, and rear sway bar, which definetly helps out with keeping high speeds during turns, I just want some for get and go power. But like everyone else has said before I love my 15K car.

I LOVE my box! Cold air and cat-back make a difference in power. It is only 1.5L, it is a fuel economy car, not a sports car. What it lacks in power, it makes up in fuel cost. They start out at like $16000, of coarse it is not going to be a perfectly quiet luxury car. You get what you pay for, but like I said, I Love it!!!

I've not noticed the sound problems yet, but I have heavy bass, and ride with the windows down, and as far as the handling, that sucked from the factory, one wet road and I slid into the ditch because of the cheap donuts that were on the car when I bought it new, it is a little rough, but I can't afford to change that right now as thats one of the things that will kill my extended warranty

You'd be surprised that it actually shouldn't hurt your warranty at all as long as it's kept within reason.

The ride sucks so bad I'm taking the risk with an extremely mild drop - about an inch (I wouldn't even drop it if I had a choice) and rear shocks.

Looks alone are reason enough to drop it.

Better ride is just a bonus

Well there is but in knowing what I want and don't want, there is nothing wrong there.

I know what I would like to achieve and hope to obtain it or something very close. You just shut up and help me install this stuff. BTW, we must get along so great cause we both have "something" wrong. *snicker*

I have 18's with 35 series tires (yeah, 2 1/2 inch sidewall), a drop, and stock suspension. I feel every nook and cranny on any road, and potholes scare the pi$$ out of me. I've gotten used to the bumps, and the noise... but the tradeoff is that I'm driving something that I feel connected to the road to. I can live w/ that =)
