Default Any factory installed accessories worth it?

I'm thinking about getting a xB when I sell my tC (lower payments wanted basically). And I was wondering if any factory installed accessories are worth it? I was thinking FOG LIGHTS, but not sure if I really need them, but it's a nice feature I suppose.

I'm not too car savvy, so I'm not sure how tough some of these things are to install anyways. I have friends that are though. I know floor mats and basic accesories you can get cheaper online, correct?

Thanks!

I have many of the factory offered options and like them all. However, I would recommend that you buy a base car, get the upgrades through eBay or elsewhere online, and install it all yourself.

The fog-lights are nice, but they aren't necessarily all that bright. I've got 'em, they're cool.

The sub/iPod radio are nice, again, ... too expensive from the dealer buy online.

The LED style tail lights are nice, eBay them.

The spoiler, interior lights, carbon fiber appliques, I got it all. ;)

The only downside to not getting the options dealer installed is that you don't get the warranty. Enjoy.

the foglights look good on the front end. i hate that plastic cut out. but they are pretty much useless. they sit so high that they really dont do anything for ya. i woudl get anything electronic or painted installed by the dealer. other stuff is cheaper to get elsewhere.

Thanks for the info on the Fog Lights. I will pass if they don't really work. I wanted them more for use, not looks.

So, what are the best websites for upgrades? The wheels would be my most wanted one and the dealer seems to charge TOO much.

Every option is a dealer install. Whatever your dealer could add now, they could add later and it would be the same price. Skip all the accessories if you want to keep your payments low. Buy the accessories or aftermarket equivalent later if you really want them.

The only thing I got on mine was the Scion Security. It probably costs 3x as much as an equivalent aftermarket system but I didn't want to mess around with it later. I would've also bought cruise control, but my dealer didn't sell it.

Also, the finance guy at the dealer gave me a $20 parts voucher when I bought my xB. So now I'll buy the cargo cover (the only other genuine Scion part I wanted) at the dealer instead of online.

I got 15" alloys and tires from tirerack.com for less than the dealer wanted for the 15" alloy swap. I hate hubcaps and wasn't impressed with the goodyear's traction and handling. All the roads I drive are too messed up to get anything lower profile than stock.

Thanks, any good sites for other accessories like floormats? I bought my tC at one place, but I cannot recall it now.

Thanks!

Stay Away From the Scion Security Alarm System It SUCKS and Way over priced. Go After Market on that. the only thing I got was the Spoiler. I got everything I wanted on-line lowering springs, alarm, wheels and as for the cargo cover I think it suck too. It just hangs there like a cheap hammock. Well that's my input Good luck and enjoy your xB.

the only reason i woudl suggest getting the security system is because if you get one installed aftermarket and it messes up your electronic system some how your dealer isnt going to cover it.

i just went with the regular crap that came with the RS3. If you feel you can do it yourself then dont pay high prices at the dealer. You can find everything cheaper online, and most of the stuff is common sence. I installed everything myself with no problems

I have no need for the spoiler (hate the looks of it) or the iPod radio. I have Sirius, so that is my music of choice.

Thanks for the suggestions. Any other websites for OEM stuff like floormats?

+1 for TRD Sparks - they're awesome. Good prices, great service, and fast shipping. I've ordered the fog lights, armrest, rear cargo cover, and Injen ShortRam intake from them - and I'm happy with it all!

You don't need any other sites, all you need is eBay.

I got mine for like $60! Brand New.

I thought I was the only one. The spoiler seems to be popular, but I don't like it. I just see it as something else to get in the way cleaning off the snow.

As for floor mats... I picked some generic all season carpeted mats at Target. Mine's a manual and I'm hard on the mats so I didn't want to spend too much. I don't feel so bad replacing $25 mats every year or two. They fit well and don't slide around. I'd be tempted to try the aluminum diamond plate "mats" (eBay) if they weren't so expensive and they'd hold water.

I picked up a cargo cover today and it does kind've suck. But it's the only thing out there and it's $30. It rang up for $30.68, the list is $40. I'm guessing the latter is the "installed" price or something.

Actually I would say get the fog lights. If you swap out the blubs for something like the Nokya Yellows it make a big differance. I have it on mine, and is quite a nice addition.

When I bought my xb i only got the floor mats and that was it. Everything else I got from this site of other places on the internet.

+2 Trdsparks.com Fast, cheap, awesome.

I say have the dealer install anything you wouldn't feel comfortable doing yourself; buy everything else online.

I have the fogs and love em form and function. I got the security too. Probably overpriced, but convenient.

It just so happened that the things I wanted to get, were on an xB on the lot. I know I paid more for them overall by including them on the loan, but it's done, and I can't complain.

Bottom line is, if you want to save money and do intend to do upgrades, and are willing to do them yourself don't get the dealer upgrades.

If you want it done easily, get em.

I'll put in a plug for scionpartspeople. They're cheaper on some things than trdsparks. trdsparks may end up being cheaper on shipping because they're closer to you.

If you do go with the fogs, everything I've read indicates the installation is easy, and you'll save yourself about $150 if you DIY.
