I want to install a roof rack on my 2005 xB. The problem is I hate the way all the "clamp on" after market racks look. They are big, they are bulky, they clamp onto the section where the rubber noise elimination seal runs along the roof. I like the lower profile roof racks like those installed on minivans. Specifically the ones installed on the Dodge Grand Caravans. The cross bars are really flat and thin

almost like blades and the side rails are low profile. Has anybody ever attempted something like this?

No prob, but I installed roof racks anyways.
It was a learning process. Took approximately two hours start-to-finish.....maybe a little longer.

Yesterday I started this thread, thought about the roof rack the whole day.....I woke up this morning with the Roof Rack Mission.
I pulled the roof rack off a junked Dodge Caravan.

Gonna try to post a youtube link to the video of the rack installed on my xB.....not sure how to do it though Hopefully is works.

 

Very impressive! I would never have thought of using a rack from another model car.
