Default Anyone find a good use for the HUGE bin above the glove box?

I have an xA that I am very happy with. We've decided that my wife's next car will probably be an xB, so naturally I'm looking at them more than I used to. One thing that I find odd about the xB is the gigantic open "bin" or "tray" in the dash above the glove box. I don't understand why Scion didn't just enclose that and make the glovebox bigger. I think it would look smoother and cleaner. Oh well. Have any of you come up with a unique use for that area, or is it just wasted space?

I was thinking of making a removable netting to hold stuff in that cubby hole, I've had to pick stuff up from the floor many times from that open area. Maybe somekind of flex netting ?

Go check out a Toyota Echo. They have a similar tray, only they have a door that flips up, so it's like an extra glove box. In Japan, you can get similar doors for the bB, but they don't fit our xBs unfortunately.

I kinda like all the lil storage "pockets". I don't use that tray for anything though...

It's great when someone's holding a piping hot pizza until you get back home.. among other things.

It just seems like such a waste. You can't really use it for small-item-storage, because like Paganguy said, it ends up all over the car. The space is just screaming for either a door or a high-tech, expensive mod.

I keep my gloves there in the winter.

Sorta an open air glove box.

HEY, that's a good idea! Like a baby cargo net... That would be good... If you could make it look OEM... 'm gonna look into that.

And they do have flip up storage boxes for the bB, and I think they fit our cars too. I remember seeing a picture of one... It 'clicks' up and down like the tC's radio door.

it is only illegal if you can turn it on while the car is in motion. All you have to do is hook it to the ebrake so that it has to be up for it to turn on.

But what good is it then? It's not like I'm going to be sitting in my car watching a movie while the car is parked. When I get to my destination, I get out.

Uhh, has the idea that it's a bad idea to watch movies while you're driving dawned on you?

I'm looking into finding a white fuzzy tissue box cover like in this picture:
