The tow hook is not for actually toting the car around behind a camper or something. It's a RECOVERY hook, made for things like, um...
...gee, I don't know.
And for the record, I swerved to avoid flattening a dog. MY dog, as a matter of fact.
In my case, leaving it on would be a matter of convenience. ;)
The gentleman above has had one modified, and it looks GORGEOUS, but if you don't have friends at a machine shop it might be tough.
Anybody know which Toyota vehicles have compatible hooks? We might get some nice ones off other models.

You have to pop out the little cover over the socket. It's on the driver's side.
OR, you can drive arouhnd for a year, and it'll come off on its own! HAHAHAHA no seriously, those things are crap.

Anyone have the stock one for sale? I recently had to have mine towed, and with the rear end modified it was tough for the tow driver to find a spot to hook up to in the back to tie down. The one that came with it was used in the front to haul it on the truck.
