Man, it's up to you. What are your priorities?

I couldn't live with an automatic, but I could live with another color. Just my dos pesos.

That does suck. Did you place a formal order with the dealer? If so, I'd raise some hell. I'd make them get the one you wanted. I don't care if they have to buy one from another dealer. You ordered a five-speed, and you should get one. Did you already put some money down on the car?

yeah, I put $500 down on preferencing the car... they told me that in the GMT states only 8 5 speeds were allocated.... said auto was the option i had. I am leaning towards the thundercloud..... I just have waited for a long time. sucks

Personally, I would just take the Hot Lava w/ the Auto, but my Hot Lava is going to be an automatic. Granted, I really don't see the major desire for the 5 speed (other than rarity). The car isn't going to be much faster with the manual.

Just my thoughts. Hot Lavas Awesome

Are you kidding?!?! I noticed a HUGE difference between the two. There's over a whle second advantage to getting the manual when it comes to 0-60 and quarter mile times, which is pretty big. The auto is downright sluggish.

It's not just the speed. If all things were equal and both had exactly the same acceleration, it would come down to whether you prefer to shift or whether you hate to shift. So, which would you prefer, TCScion?

I have never owned an automatic. Driven plenty and just feel like something is missing. I catch myself sometimes tapping the brake mistaking it for the clutch. It just feels like one less component is out of my control and I don't like that. I have the dealership looking for a Thunder cloud 5 speed right now. I just wouldn't have fun with the automatic.

Hmm, Guess I will drive one next time before I say they should be the same. My dealer told me that he saw no differance between them, so I didn't even consider drivint it. My Z3 right now is a stick and I love it, wouldn't have it any other way. However, shifting gets tiring when driving short distances in traffic.

That's the issue with manuals. If you're not going to be commuting it's probably not worth it. It gets REALLY old REALLY quick when you're driving around town hitting every other light red. I got rid of my manual for an auto xB and I don't regret it.

But that's only a phase every manual driver first goes through. I've only driven manuals for my cars - you get to a point where the shifting is fluid, unnoticeable, and natural.

Default hp = hp

108hp = 108hp at the motor...
auto trannys most often suck up a few ponies more than a stnd

there are only a few cars where the auto is quicker than a stnd, this not being one of them.

the auto trany in these cars cant take the serious upgrading that i want to do.

$0.02 no receipt

automatic = torque converter and hydraulic pump = more power loss....not to mention the extra slip untill the torque converter locks up...and thats not till highway cruising speeds....i drove the stick and then the automatic before i got mine.....automatic felt like i put another 500lbs in the back when i took off.....but hey its all up to....i dont mind driving a stick....but when im 35+ im sure an automatic will be somethin i want....i know im gonna get lazy when i get older...
but hot lava....mmmm.....rock and a hard place....if i could wait for the stick i would wait for the sitck....if u cant wait and u wanted a hot lava xb then get it....not like these things will ever be fast anyway.....well...untill i get around to buying another block and building it up....hehe...bored to 1.6liter with 8.8:1 comp pistons at 12lbs of boost = rocket box

108 bhp is 108 bhp....108 bhp put through an automatic aint gonna feel as good as 108bhp through a manual gearbox, this is a fact. I personally would just raise hell if thats what you preferenced. I just hate going up a hill and the car decides it needs to downshift without asking me so I need a 5 spd.

Yeah thats a hard decsion to make. I mean you want a manual cause its fun and your style, but the Hot Lava is just so sweet! Well, you have nothing to lose, you might as well just ask you dealer straight if he could order a manual and if he cant etc etc. Good luck.

I agree on the stick..its all I have ever driven and its so natural that I really don't know Im really doing it anymore. Personally though if you could wait to get a Lava stick get it...if not get stick in another color. Without stick it just feels that your missing something and you are. But like my dad told me he wouldn't have anything else but an auto..so Im taking all my manual years while I can

Same happened here. I just ended up doing some quick searching in a 3 hour radius and found a 5 speed allocated and not taken yet. The 5 speeds are ultra rare right now and a pain to get. I'd say around 10% or less are manuals.
