Default Autodim Mirror Installed, What do I use to cover the hole?

I installed this autodimming, compass, outside temperature rearview mirror and now I don't know what to cover the spot where the original mirror mounted. I tried a stick it LED battery operated light there but it wouldn't stick and I wasn't really happy with how it looked. Any suggestions on what I can cover this with? I attached two photos of it, one during the day and one at night. You can see how the mirror turns dark blue from the flash in the night photo. It also comes with a UV sensor for an extra $15. I didn't get it though. This is the only rearview mirror on the market that has a 360 degree compass or the standard N, S, E, W. I got mine on e-bay from Yovus for $68 but it usually goes for around $90. He usually has several for sale on e-bay at one time so you can get it in the $60 range if you time it right. If anyone would like info on how I installed it let me know. Took me a while as there are no really good how to's that I could find in this forum or on the net for this particular project.

I'd still find a way to put a light in there or even take a matching piece of vinyl a cover the hole. That's what I used to cover the warning labels on my sun visors.

Nice mirror! What'd you pay and where'd ya get it from? I miss having a thermometer in my car. Is the temp on it fairly accurate? How does it even get the reading?

Thanks, I got it on e-bay from Yovus for $68. There's a sensor thats mounted on the lower grill and wires fed back through the engine compartment, through the firwall, up behind the dash, behind the A-pillar, and under the headliner. Yes, it's very accurate.

Where do you get cloth that matches the headliner? A fabric store or auto supply?

did you have to buy that cam lock kit or did everything you need come with it for the winning bid price?

No cam lock kit needed. You just buy some rear view mirror repair kit cement at any auto store or Kmart, etc. and glue the included black metal button to the windshield. I mounted mine high so that the wires behind it would be hidden from view by the black dots on the windshield. I discovered after the install that it interferes with my driver's side visor though. I have to move the mirror to get it all the way down now. If I had to do it over again I would have mounted it a little lower.

Tanakasan, wish I'd seen your post before I did my install. I did a search of this forum but never saw your post. I guess I just didn't use the right search criterion. Thanks

cherryBox, I just installed the mirror mounting cover with legos and it works great. What gave you the idea to use legos? Very original idea. Thanks.

i was just trying to think of something that size. I guess it just dawned on me to test fit the legos...

did you notice how the holes for the screws go right thru one of the round spots on the bottom of the lego?

Yeah, it's like either the legos were meant for this application or the mirror mount was meant to accommodate the legos!

Boxoffice, thanks for making me not feel so stupid. I think the reason tanakasan's post didn't show up on my search is that it begins with xB rather than mirror or autodimming.

^^Maybe my bad...is autodimming supposed to be one word?

Search is so literal! The terms "autodimming" and "auto dimming" are not the same to a search engine.

Anyways, chalk up another win for the Legos! It is really a great DIY solution! Most owners don't have access to a CNC mill. Well done cherryBox and greenenvy!

Spell check says it's auto dimming. Thanks
