Default blew up my xb yesterday

as embarasing as this is to me, i blew up my xb yesterday on rt 29 in md goin home from work at like 3pm. all of a sudden the engine was makin some really mean clunking sounds and then it shut off...i ended up on the side of the road for 3 hours waiting for someone to pull over and let me use their phone or take me to a gas station, but that never happend ( oh yeah, cops suck...they just look at you, smile, and wave...so i wave back with the "lil bird" ). so i ended up walkin about 2 1/2 miles to some aisain supermarket/strip mall place and got to a pay phone. needless to say, i got my box towed to antwerpin toyota in clarkesville in hopes that my warrentee is gonna fix everything...oh, i have like 4900 miles on the car and i've had it for about a month and a half. so just wanted to let you guys know that the TCM box that you see on the beltway 5 in the morning is now out of commision.

HEY IT WAS YOU!

Man that transmission sounds bad. Other's too have had issues. More like a warranty issue at hand here. You are not alone from what I'm reading on these boards about the manual tranny.

I was on RT29 heading up towards Columbia when I spotted a TCM on the other side of RT29 with it's Hood popped open. I think that was around 4:45 when I passed by. I thought something was odd about the xB on the side of the road. You didnt have your emergency lights on did you? I was probably driving to fast to notice. Man sorry about your lost dude. Wished I could have helped out. I couldnt get around the mad fast traffic to the exit to St. John's lane and cross the bridge and turn to the other side of RT29.

WillC has had a bad experiance with Antwerpen in getting stuff to repair his Hot Lava. And other bad customer SERVICE issues. I think Russell Toyota/Scion right on Route 40 pass the Howard/Baltimore County line would probably help you out more. They even are part of Toyota's Rent a Car program. Tell them about that clunking noise and stuff.

All the Box's you saw were on the other side of 29? We must have thought that the xB was taking a break or something. Yeah, honking and waving wont work at 70MPHwhile listening to Creed on our Pioneer sound system with 160watts that THUMP <scion radio ad>

Well, when I see another box on the side next time I'll do what I can. Must have also been the fact that its an xB. It is a Toyota. You dont see Toyota's on side of the road that often.

Has Antwerpen given you the ETA when your xB will be available? Have they even started to check? If they have not updated you, call them every day. Call Scion Corp at 1-866-70-SCION. ANd report them.

I was that fast (likely 65MPH ) :D vrrom vroom. Remember, our xB's are happy at higher RPM = High speeds :D And I like to keep "Charlene" happy everyday. I'm still getting ~32MPG thought weird.

Cops do suck.. I remember a friend of mine breaking down on the interstate in our senior year of high school... Him and a friend that was with him start walkin towards Crothersville (where we all live obviously..) .. A cop pulls over, rolls down his window and says,'You guys have the white lumina broke down back there?' to which they reply yes... Then cop then says,'Well, there's a gas station about 3 miles south of here'.. Then drives away... They walked to the marathon and called a tow truck

just wondering if you felt any simptoms before it died? mine is starting to kinda get clicky when put into gear. like you feel it kinda snap 3-4 time before it pops into gear, and 10-15mph rolls and pushing it into first at idle it will grind... i just dont want mine to dien

So this is a common thing to happen to the Manual tranny? And you only had a bit over 4k miles? Please do keep us updated with the entire situation so we'll know what exactly did happen to your xB. Sorry it had to happen to you.

symptoms .... well, to me, the trany seems almost "cheap" it doesn't really have a nice "clunk"ing sound when it goes into gear. when i make a hard shift, it almost feels like my shifter's gonna break in half...but then again, these cars weren't meant to be drivin hard...so i guess that's what i should expect...but i will mos. deff. keep everyone updated.

Antwerpen lied to you dude. They do more than Oil Changes on a Saturday. They do whatever that needs to be done as long as there is an appointment. They are probably backlogged and told you that. Although they still lied to you.
