Default The box got me home.

With 21" inches of snow on the road, and the hills of western PA, my little snow tank got me home and in my driveway safe at 2:30 am.

With big SUV's all over the side of the road, and in the ditch, I sailed right by them. A testament to just how well the box goes in the snow with 4 half decent snow tires.

Although with that much snow, the last hill gave me some problems. In fact, I had to try it about 10 times. And when I reached as high as I could go, I had to get out and shovel two tire tracks, back down and try it again. But I made it when others did not !!!

With such a low front end, and about 20" inches of snow, if I went over about 25 mph, so much snow would blow over the front end, the wipers could not keep up, and I had to stop at the top of every hill, get out and clean off the headlights to see, and clean out the grill to prevent overheating.

The only problem with the box that I can see, is the TRAC control. Every time I tried the hill and I needed more power and the front tires to keep spinning fast, the TRAC would kick in, the engine would sputter, and I would get stuck and have to try again. I finally turned the TRAC off, put it in 1st., and just gave it the gas. The beeper would sound off, but the engine would not sputter, and I finally made the last hill.

Welcome to the Winter of '10 in the northeast. Wish I had my camera with me, cause you can not believe what I saw that night !!!!

But the box got me home !!!

In box we trust!

My toaster gets me home every time *knock on wood*. As long as you treat her right and drive properly, these little things will take you almost anywhere.

next time ... tack the traction control off .. pull the Ebrake .. and hit the throttle with the car in first. Give it about a minute and then enjoy a burn out from an automatic.

It is truely amazing the amount of snow the box will ride thru. I remember trips up to Detroit during the winter and going down un plowed streets feeling the floors dragging on the snow. I used to have to put the stock springs on for winter duty but now I don't drive the box in snow anymore.

My underbrace has been chopping up the ice pretty well, at least it has a purpose now, lol.
