I dunno. We measured the tC's engine, and it would fit in the bay of the Box.

Now, that may not answer your question...sorry.

Even if it could, you would have to find a proper way to mount it to the transmission. Cooling might be an issue too.

What would the 2.0 donor engine come from?

Coulndt you also just stroke the existing motor to a 2.0L ? It probably would cost about the same as a swap.

The 1.8 out of the Celica might be a candidate, but you'll have to take into consideration things like the engine mounting to the transmission, cooling. Hell, if you're going to strip apart a Celica, grab the 6 speed transmission out of it while you're at it.

It'd probably be a ton of work. I don't think it'd be as easy as an engine swap in a CRX or something along those lines. Those are stupid easy to do.

If you've got the guts and the coin, go for it.

Default egine swap

A 1.8 would be nice! I wish they had put that size in the box in the first place.

in japan the 1zzfe (1.8L Corolla/matrix/Celica) motor is available for the xB, so it is a good swap for us in america, it gets better gas mileage and has alot more power than the 1nzfe that is stock

oh yeah, the 3sg(t)e from the MR2 and older celicas/camrys would be a tough fit the motor is kinda tipped at about a 30 degree angle and you would have to swap hubs for the axles to fit

btw im a tech for toyota, and im using my girlfriend's account to answer this question

What transmission comes attached to that motor in Japan? Isn't that the same motor that Lotus modified for the US-spec Elise?

if you wanted a faster car...why did u get the box. every box owner gets bored with their car so early, then they look for more power. first it was intakes, s/c or turbo now people wanna do an engine switch. i just dont get it, if ur so tuned on power you def got the wrong car...

This has been discussed countless times and it almost always falls down to this simple point: people like to mod their cars and personalize them for uniqueness.
