Can't make up my mind
Basically, I've just become fascinated with Scion's as I've just found out that they exist. I live in Illinois so Scion aren't available here yet so I have yet to see any of them in person. My question is multiple parts and deals with the Xb. I currently drive a 96' GTI VR6 and am in the market for a new car. I first became really interested in the Tc because of its close power comparison to my current ride, but lately I've really started to want an Xb. My main problem is the lack of hp/trq cuz I've never driven a 4 cylinder car as both of my previous cars were V6 with at least 150 hp. Of all you Xb owners how do you like the performance of your vehicle? Have any of you taken the step down in power like I'm thinking of doing? Are there any features of the Xb that stand out? Reading that post about what everyone doesn't like about their Xb has made me a bit weary so I'd like to hear about all the positive things. I'm sorry for the long post I just have no where else to ask these questions as you folks are my only Scion resource. :D
i am kinda like you, my last car was an audi a4, the car before that was a vw cabrio that i dropped a vr6 in, the car before that was a gti 2.slow.
i love my box but for entirely different reasons than the reasons that made me love the cars i had in the past.
no wi enjoy the gas mileage, the unique shape and dimensions of the box, i dunno i just really -like- it. plus since i have always had german cars and lived in cali i've been lid of envious of everyone getting to do the jdm thing. i lived in japan, speak japanese, majored in it but drove german cars. so now finally i can drive a japanese car and get into jdm!! yes. i am a nerd.
the step down in pwer wasnt a big deal. i live in sf so the torque is what you get by on. it has enough hp on the highway to not get you killed as well.
no real pet peeves either except for the orange interior lighting but thats so minor.
get one, i think you'll enjoy it!

I traded in my 2002 Acura RSX for my xB.. I think the RSX has 140-150 hp? I can't remember exactly.. But jonbee said it very well, I like the xB for totally different reasons..
You'll have to drive one to see if it has enough power for you.. Personally, I think the xB is very quick for 108 hp... I owned a 96' honda civic at one point (stock), and I know for a fact the xB is quicker than it was..(both were manual)...
So overall, I guess what I'm saying is, I took a loss on power, no I don't miss it.. but I am not a power hungry person... It has room to spare as far as having enough power for every-day use.. I guess you have to drive one to really know =\
Edit: Also, jonbee... yes, the amber interior lights suck, but they are easy to get rid of as long as you are replacing the stock CD player... I pulled of the center dash piece yesterday and replaced the amber LED caps with green in the A/C controls... So I have green A/C controls now.. And a green display Alpine CD player is in the mail ;)
