Car, Truck, SUV, Mini-Van???
Ok, silly question, but here goes. So I just purchased a '06 xB (see profile pics), and someone asks me, "Is it a car, mini-van, SUV, truck?"
I was a little hesitant, b/c I wasn't sure.

Wagon or crossover urban utility vehicle. But when you say crossover, they generally think hybrid. Most states and insurance companies classify it as a wagon though. Ultimately, it fits into too many categories as it is.

It's a station wagon, which is a type of car.
SUV's are typified by high ground clearance and at least the appearance of off-road capability.
Trucks are typified by body-on-chassis designs, high ground clearance, and large payload capacity.
Minivans are typified by front seats far enough apart to walk between, and third-row seating.
The xB is none of the above. It's a station wagon, which is typified by a car-based design (it's an Echo) with a fifth door, no trunk, a cargo area with no lip, and a roofline that extends over the cargo area. (If the hatch was sloped and there was a lip, it would be a hatchback.)

It's a small wagon. Its shape happen to be close to a minivan but it's not one. Maybe some people could think is more like an SUV because of its driving position. Some people also told me my xb looks like an Econobox I still think is a small cool wagon

Ive seen it referred to as an SUV in the Princeton, IN newspaper, which made me laugh. I've seen some parts sites call it a Micro Van, kind of fitting. And Ive seen some places call it a wagon, about as fitting as micro van. I just call it a Box. lol

I think "Micro-Van" is probably the most accurate, or "UUV" for Urban Utility Vehicle...
Every one of my coworkers who's been in mine called it a "truck", however, and they're professional gearheads.
