Default Carwash and paint scratch

Just got my box!!!! I have 3 jobs and never see the light of day but during my lunch break and when i'm home I got crap loads of stuff to do so,.... i usually stop off at the car wash during lunch break. My question to you guys is, does the brushes at car wash scratch the paint? i heard that the scion paint scratches easily. Is this true? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Look for a brushless/touchfree carwash. Why be whipped by those plastic brushes?

it's not actually the brushes that cause the scratches... it's the dirt that is covering them.

dirt itself is very abrasive to paint. to truely wash a car without scratching takes alot of practice and a VERY good wash method.

comming from a person who is crazy enough to wash his car at 2 in the morning because he couldnt stand it being dirty-

that's a bad idea. the lights attract bugs, and then the light reflecting off hte paint will attract the bugs to the car itself. bugs get stuck in the water. VERY annoying to say the least.

Just say no to carwashes! You can do it yourself almost as fast and a LOT better, using the Mr Clean system.

(Yrrrrrch -- that sounds like I'm selling it! I'm not; I'm just a happy user . . . . )

well, as far as scion paint scratching easily i'm not so sure about this, i was using a window cleaning thing at a gas station and i used it across the front bumper to get the bugs off and i accidently caught hte plastic edge on the bumper and it left a nasty black scratch upon further inspection i was able to rub it off and it was just the plastic. so i'd say scion paint isn't that bad. I use a touchless carwash and then i hand dry it making sure to do the inside door edges hatch and hood. for me to wash the car myself im so maticulous it'd take me 2 hours and this way cuts it down to about 30mins to an hour.

my basic routine.
I spray wheel cleaner on, then it tire foam the tires and wheel wells, i also tire foam under the hood, was a trick i learned when i used to be in a lowerrider carclub keeps engine bay clean. then i spray bug and tar remover over the front windshield and front bumper / fascia. i run my car through the touchless carwash. then i hand dry with a towel, use a sponge and spray tire foam onto that then apply it to the tires. whipe down the engine bay with a seperate towel. and call it a day.
if i have a hour to spare, then with the other 30 mins i will use a maguires' detailer or quickwax.

i like to go to the do it yourself places with the pressure washer. I wash it down first with low pressure, soap it up then use the high pressure to take the soap and caked on dirt off the car
