Default chrome paint and headlight risk?

Hey, im getting a new box soon and managed to snag my old bottom grilles off the old one, and would like to know some chrome-ish paint. i figured i should ask, beause i need water proof (?) paint, and some good types. also i intend to get myself some sonar headlights from where ever (feel free to post a link to a cheap site!) and am wondering if taking off the front bumper has any risk on the airbags or anything. i know HOW to take it off, including using a towl or 2 or 3 even to cover the round where u lay it, but is it risky for the airbag?
oh and where can i get chrome a-b-c pillar covers?

ty, sorry for so many q's! Noah-

Alsa has the best chrome look paint I have seen. check them out. http://www.alsacorp.com/products/mir...a_prodinfo.htm

Front bumper removal has nothing to do with the airbag at all. the sensor is mounted on the core support and as long as you do not whack it hard with a hammer it will give you no trouble.

ok so no cords are attached to it? aight, and what about paint from lows or home depot or something... you know, something that is NOT $75 for 4 ounces and needs a gun? i dont need amazing revolutionary paint, just some ok quality to paint my lower grille with... or even a good silver paint to match! and answer the a-b-c pillar chrome stuff...

Well you asked for chrome. If you do not mind chromy looking silver then buy any name brand "chrome" spray bomb....in fact get a couple and see which one you like the look of best. Any lacquer or enamel spray can in a name brand (duplicolor, plasticoat, rustoleum, and others will perform about as well as the next. In order to get better durability in a chrome/silver finish I know of no products that would not require mixing and a paint gun of some sort. By the way there is a thing called a Pre-Val (look at auto paint store or home center) it is a small aresol propellant and bottle that can be used to spray small quantities of mixed paint...it is not particularly expensive...but the paint will cost some.

Very silver.....a little chromey looking....light coats are better....kinda soft surface once dry. This one I have tried before. Most of these chrome silvers tend to make a surface that is only semi durable...kinda soft. Using some compatible clear over these would help.

If you can not find what you want in a rattle can, get a Pre-Val sprayer. For like $12 you can spray any paint you can mix and reduce. Works like a refillable spray can.
http://www.prevalspraygun.com/ very handy!!

Why not just take all the plastic parts you want chromed and have them vacuum chromed like they do on old plastic dashboard pieces from 60's cars. Any rattle can chrome stuff will look like DODO. You'd be better off just painting them body color instead and be done with it. I'd be more concerned about not crashing this one. lol j/k

har har... its coo

but i want to keep it as minimal cost wise was possible. if it looks bad i can throw them out or try to paint them red or something... idk they are my "messing around" grille set so i can see what works! i have saved like 235 for my new halo headlights(more than enough i realize, just gotta get the box first before i buy em!) and whatev is left i will save for my short ram... and i sill have to get my old stereo re-installed that i took out of the old xB, but i will use whatev is leftover from the insurance money, if there is any that is....

Custom Chrome plating in Grafton Ohio does really good chrome plating on plastics but it is not cheap. I had them do some plastic lug nut covers for a set of IROC wheels 25 plastic lug nuts $250...which when I think about it really is not that expensive only $10 each. Their plating held up to multiple removals of these with a socket...I was surprised they held up this well.

I figure if you want a certain look go for it. Do it right or don't do it.

There was someone selling those B pillar covers in stainless for the outside of the doors but can't remember who it was.
