Default clicking sounds

does anyone out there have a newly developed CLICKING sound in their front end? ive only got about 4600 miles on my car and it sounds like ive got CV joint troubles. i hope not. ive looked for the obvious things, rocks caught in the beauty rings, rock in the tread but i dont seem to see anything. any one else have this problem and can you shed light on the solution?-thanks

Default Clicking too - right out of the gate

I noticed a soft clicking noise starting right around odo mile 60. Kind of like a card is in the spokes - starts slowly and gets faster until I can't hear over the wind. Seemed to be out of the front left, but also think I've heard it out of the front right. Had some pals confirm the noise outside the xA. Doesn't sound major, but a bit bummed . . . first new car - was looking forward to avoiding the garage for a few years.

well went to the dealer they looked at my car, and the verdict nothing was wrong they told me that the sound taht i heard from teh back brakes is normal. THey said that the brake pads dont get pulled all tehy way back after you apply them so there is always going to be part of them hitting teh rotors, Normal they said so ill take their word for it but if something goes wrong atleast i have it documented

I had the same issue pop up one time on my xA... I was headed home and just might have been pushing the car a little hard , heard the clicking everytime I put the brakes on. Got home, the brakes smelled a little hot, let it all cool down and have not heard it again.

I don't really buy the dealer's explaination here... Disc brakes have been on cars for over 30 years, clicking is not one of the properties they possess. However, I thought the sound was coming from the front, not the rear...
Either way, noise from the brakes is not normal.

my noise does not correlate with the brake, and the frequency of the click increases with speed. I can hear it best when driving next to walls/curbs.

What kind of wheels do you have??? Could it be a loose wheel weight?

Same here. 05 xA all stock. Noticed it at 5800 miles and the same week I took it in for its first oil change.

you can hear it best at those times because the sound is reflecting back to you from a hard surface.

i don't have an xA, but what you guys are describing sounds EXACTLY like what an old probe GT i had sounded like when the CV joint went bad. sounds like a baseball card stuck in your spokes of your bike when you were a kid, right?

get your joints checked out y'all. it was like 350 to fix the one on my probe back in 1996.

CV Joint at 5800 miles? I certainly hope not. Kinda odd that a bunch of us are hearing the same noise around 5000 miles.

hopefully it's something else entirely, but i'd still have a mechanic check it out just to be on the safe (and warrantied) side.

I used to get clicking sounds when I used to make turns. It turned out to be the wheel covers!
So I solved that problem by getting 18" rims!!!!

If some of you already have rims, then I am not sure what that is. Sorry, I can't help you out. Hope you guys get it fixed.
