Default Closing Fees?

I know that Scion says Pure Pricing but a salesperson told me that a $189 "documentation fee" was added ontop of tax and title. I presume this is kosher? Did you guys pay a doc fee?

The salesperson said it was "OK" by Scion rules.

Every dealer charges a documentation fee. Usually between 100 and 200 bucks. What are you getting for that fee? Usually the majority of it is for them to file all your paperwork with the credit company and with the manufacturer. The rest is to send the guy to DMV to get your registration/title, etc... Its a way for the dealers to bloat up some figures to make more money. If its anymore than 200, then its definitely not kosher. Due to the pure pricing, it has been rumored that some dealers are trying to charge 500 and up for the doc fee to make more money...If they do, run to another dealer. My dealer was 129 for the doc fee and an extra 96 for the registration and title. :D

Now you know how the dealers get around "pure pricing". Documentation fees should be called "Additional dealer profit fees". You don't pay a documentation fee when you buy any other item, so there's no reason to pay one for a car. Move on to a dealer that doesn't have them. The cars are the same at every dealer.

I'll wager that the processing fee is a junk fee.

7.75% in San Diego.

Our dealer charges a doc fee of like $45 or $60 for all the DMV processing.

What a bucket. This IS ADP. They have delivery and destination fees of like $500. My dealer through in an undocumented $50 documention fee.. and I live in a diff state, so I'm doing all the documentation.. PLUS they had title and tires seperate. bucket bucket bucket.

Edit -- the dealer dropped the document fee and the tire fee and the title fee etc.
I did a little swearing over the phone because of an honest mixup on their part, but I think it scared them and I ended up paying sticker + tax + $25 temp tags (diff state) and that was IT. I'm very happy with my deal. /edit

Oh man, I forgot this thing is going to be TAXED! Hahaha, I guess I somehow thought something like buying a brand new car wouldn't be eligible for sales tax

Please, don't mind me, I'm going to go sit back in my corner...

Maybe I am wrong ? I was under the impression that Scion had already added some fees into the price of the vehicle, thus the dealer should not charge any additonal fees. I know my dealer does not charge any additional fees ! They are straight up forward .....

I would contact SCION directly on their 800# and speak to a customer service agent and make a complaint ~ Dealers should not be allowed to get away with this, there are plenty of other dealers to buy from who will not charge any bogus fees !

Just my 2 cents ....
