concerned about dealership maintenence
Man I haven't posted for ages.
So yeah, after 3 accidents and 2 years, I'm now currently beyond my 30K mark, and my dealership wants me to come in to do a scheduled full maintenece on the car.
Maita Scion/Toyota, currently is going to bill me for a whopping 327.99 for the whole entire maintenence: change oil, spark plugs, inspect fuel lines, inspect brake lines, test drive... etc...
now to the point. I have my intake in, as well as after market lights. I'm not too worried about the TRD Muff I have because well, that's a part I got from the dealership. Should I do the swap-er-roo with my stock lights and stock air box or will I get in trouble by the so called "Techs" that will look over my car.
Any suggestions? Thanks ya'll!!

but that my friend, you live in GA.. hehe I wonder what people from CA have to say... cuz, we're not supposed to have such goodies in our car...
unless the techies or the law over there in GA is different :D

Your CAI should be carb approved, if its not, its up to you to risk having someone see it.
They really can't say anything about the lights unless they are that sorta delearship (get my drift).

WOW $300+ for a 30K service? Did you ask for the factory-per owners manual maintenance or one of the dealer "30K Service Requirements?"
RE: Intake
Magnusson-Moss Act protects car enthusiast like yourself. The dealer needs to prove that your aftermarket part/non-factory-dealer install, is the caused of a particular problem. Since you are not even going to the dealer for a problem, don't sweat it. Now if they say "something is wrong this and that" then ask them to prove it and have them put it in writing (on dealer service paper).

Not true at all. Manufacturers have to apply for an E.O. number and pass a series of tests in order to get the CARB exemption. Just because he has an '05 doesn't mean all intakes are legal.
Check the Air Resource Board of California website to find out if the intake you have is CARB legal or not. In reality, none of that even matters when a cop or smog official pops your hood. Even if you have a CARB legal intake, if you have no sticker you are still going to get a ticket and fine. You will have to fight it in court and present evidence to prove that your intake is in fact legal for your car.

I doubt you would have any problems. In regards to all intakes bieng CARB approved I may stand corrected her but I believe that to be incorrect. In fact from what I have seen and researched every CAI is not leagl here in the great state of Cali. People still have them yes, in fact you see them everywhere. I don't think the dealership is going to call the popo on you though if that's what your worried about. I think the CARB thing is absurd. They need to monitor the factories spewing the crap ni the air before they worry and harras our little cars for tearing up the environment. Just my couple cents.
Thanks folks. I appreciate the input.
Back to the Pricing, yeah it's pretty riddculous. I mean, I seriously can put in spark plugs on my own, or even change my own oil...I'm just not sure about the other stuff like, those "line" inspections that they're gonna do....and what not...iono...

Weird aint it? I mean, thats what they suggest in the form...
Shoot, i should copy paste what I have so you can all see...
The 60,000 mile maintenece is like 500 bucks.
I swear, Maita never gave me an option for all paid maintenence. My friend who bought his tC at Folsom Lake has an all paid option...yeah, he can just go there at 30K and not worry about the payments cuz well, he paid it in the beginning when he bought the car... hehe..

3. 1NZ-FE Engine
In order to comply with the tailpipe emission regulation LEV, the 1NZ-FE engine is changed as follows:
Intake System
A charcoal filter, which adsorbs the HC that accumulates in the intake system
when the engine is stopped, is added in the air cleaner cap in order to reduce
evaporative emissions.
