Default Cracked windshield xB

UGGGGG. Well last night seven months after having my xB RS 2.0 BOOM! a rock hit the windshield on 95 in the DC area last night. Now some questions:

1. Any suggestions on where in the DC area to take, would like to be close to Rosslyn Va.

2. Do they replace it with a Toyota Windshield that has those cosmetic black dots on it?

3. Any idea on how much this will run? I have a $250.00 deductible on comprehensive coverage.

Thanks
guys

if the crack is small, you could try filling it. geico fixes it for free if it is smaller than a dollar and you have comprehensive coverage.

I have fixed 3 on mine so far all under the size of a quarter.
Just get a repair kit from "Auto Zone" $9 and change.
You dont know they are there unless I point them out.

The stock windshield on the xB is known for cracking, mine cracked at 30000 miles, had a crack going length wise across the windshild and 3 quarter side spiderwebs. The replaced windshield has the dots, we have a $50 deductable on the car.

call your insurance on the windsheild. It falls under a seperate claim other than comprehensive. My deductible for a cracked windshield is $50.

I don't know for sure whether xB windshields crack more than other cars, and neither does anybody else. We have no statistics.

I had to replace two '96 Dodge Caravan windshields, one '91 Mazda MPV windshield, and one '81 Toyota Tercel windshield over the years.

The companies that exist solely for the purpose of installing glass in cars are there for a reason. They haven't been waiting all this time for Scions to be invented.

Most insurance company's will put in a new windsheld for $50.00 and fix small rock chips for free. Your insurance will not go up in cost. Call them an ask.

From what I hear you have to be careful about repeatedly using your insurance for windshields, because some people have stated that after doing this and trying to go to a new insurance company, they would not take them under suspicion that they were hiding something. I don't know all the specifics on it, but I would atleast inquire about that too, before you actually have your company replace it. It never hurts to ask.

The problem isn't the glass, it's the fact that the windshield is near vertical, and BIG.

Yep, I used to hear the same thing constantly about Wranglers.

Those windshields werent as big but being vertical rocks hit it directly rather than glancing off.

Yes.....especially with it getting colder at night the temerature difference will cause it to expand. We had a little rock chip in the middle of our windsheild on the Trooper and within a month it spread the whole width of the windshield.

If it's small I'd just get a DIY kit from Autozone.
