I live in Walla Walla, WA. There isn't a Scion Dealership here, but there is a Toyota dealership. They have a used, totally stock BSP xB, for sale. I called them today just to check on the price. They notified me that it is a 2004, it has 30,000 miles and they are trying to sell it for $15,900. I said that a new one is around 15,000. The salesperson said, "OK."

If you don't believe me call and check for yourself.

Uhh...do you mean, 'OK' as in... 'OK, we'll sell it for 15,000.' Or...'OK, whatever.'

o_O Just curious.

Finally, a car that's an investment, not just another monthly drain on my wallet!

Seriously, you can sell anything you own at whatever price you want. The trick is finding a suck^H^H^H^Hbuyer who'll meet your price.

Psh, some people. Maybe if he actually knew anything about the company he worked
for, he'd be a little more understanding.

I understand that they usually sell for more than the original price, but what I was
saying was that this guy just blew him off, probably not knowing the real price wasn't
that low.

maybe. but thats what's unfortunate is that most car salesmen don't care about anyone. let alone someone who knows something is fishy in their eyes.

Sadly enough, thats the world we live in. They just want to get a car sold so they
can get the money.

When I bought my xB, I was looking around on a Monday at the dealer, and this guy
was...'helping,' I guess you could call it.

He didn't know jack about the Scions. In he very exact words on the RS02, "Yeah,
this is the new 'Bumble Bee' color."

He asked me to wait a week for him, since he was going to be off for the next few
days, just so he could get the money for the sale.

I came back in the next day, and bought the car through someone else.

Turned out thought that when I came in a week or so after having bought the car to
do some extra paper work, he found me and was sayin', "Hey, tell my boss that I
helped you out too."

I was dumbfouned that he'd actually say something like that. What they'll do just
to get the cash.

what's weird about that is scion specialists as well as anyone who sells a scion only makes a 100 commission per scion they sell. theyre smokin some crack around there. lol he must not know how little dealerships make off scions.

I feel your anger. When I was looking I'd get blown off quite a bit.

If they are willing to haggle, they will list the price at 17 or 18 grand, then haggle to 15. Lowest I have seen was 11,500 on a used one with 55,000 miles on it.

I can tell you that xBs, for some unknown reason, are selling at dealer auctions for between 14,000 and 15,500 depending on options. I really have no idea why. This is the primary reason that we haven't bought many at auction. We just can't sell them at a competitive price with a new one. Wierd.

Maybe it's a supply and demand thing.

If there are no Scion dealerships in Walla Walla, then they
can jack you around a bit if you really want one.

I have a friend that is looking for a new car and as I was driving around last night spotted a 2005 Flint Mica Xa on a Kia dealers lot. I called this morning to see what it has and how much. 2005, 12,000 miles, auto.....$14,900! I just stuttered mmmm ok and hung up. We've been looking at a R2.0 at the Scion dealer for $14, 885.

A well known Pontiac dealership here in San Diego has a BOP for 17995. I don't know how many miles on it but from the few scratches on it and little wear inside I could see through the back windows I'd say it had a few.

If you want used, get a written quote of a new car from a dealer and take it to the used car dealer and show it to them. Then give your offer and be prepared to walk away.

Some of the resale value may be due to the uniqueness of the xB, some of it due to scarce supply and maybe part of it's related to the fact that higher mpg vehicles are in demand...
