Cruise Control
Hi All,
just got my new Xa yesterday. They had to install the cruise control and now I have a question. The cruise starts at 33mph and I wonder how it could be changed so it would kick in at 25mph.
The company cars cruise starts at 25mph which is really nice in a family neighborhood and I take advantage of it a lot.
I would like to be able to do this also on the new Xa.
Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

I dont really know what to tell you. By most manufactores its not a good idea to be using cruise at speeds below 35. Something about all the stop & go adds wear & tear on the components or something. If you have a auto, that should make it real easy to do 25. I have a stick in my focus & can stay @ 10mph in first gear no problem. Might speed up/slow down 1mph but nothing major. So just learn how to use the gas & you will not need to worry about the cruise. Thats about the only thing I can tell you.
Thanks chucksu, I am a really lazy guy and that's why I got the Xa automatic and not stick. I drove a lot in europe and of course there the "normal car " is a stick and I hated every minute of it. Especially with all the traffic lights they have. In the meantime I got even lazier since the dodge caravan goes down to 25mph and I like it as the only good thing on it. (Company car is a new caravan, 5 month old and starts rattling allready). Don't like the dodge car as such anymore. even tough I had one myself for allmost 11 years. Now the quality is so bad on the dodge and the dealers are even worse that I got so mad that I decided not to buy a chrysler product anymore. I received the "Dodge Experience" to the fullest. I wanted to buy at a first a Caravan again, even tough I drive only 5 miles a day. But the salespeople gave me such a hard time even to reach them that I gave up on them.
Then I also priced the caravan that I wanted on the Dodge website and started calling to buy/order the car and found out that they where not willing to honor/order the car for the price that the dodge website gave me. (16150.- after rebates). Called Dodge directly and after a few hours they gave me a dealer that would do it but in the meantime I was to much upset with them that I went to Toyota, liked that little thing for the 5 miles a day I am driving, and paid cash for it.
Ford and GM cars I never even considered them, somehow they are even worse then chrysler products.
Nevertheless I still like to get my Xa down to 25mph on cruise.
There must be a answer somehwere out there to solve that problem. I can't see why it should be more wear&tear on a automatic. Thanks for yoyr help, I keep looking.

Good luck. I would think its something in a computer set up or something along those lines. Maybe call up the company who made the kit & ask them if there is a way to change it. Some wear & tear could still be possible @ some lower speeds. Not like a whole lot, but if you set the cruise to a point where the tranny would down shift/upshift every other sec, I could see that beeing bad. If you stay away from those speeds It should be good. I know what you mean over all, the 96 corsica I sported for a while had cruise that would turn on at 25mph. It was fun over all, I did not know you could do this, but I was doing 30 with the memery set to 65 & hit the resume key & the dang car floored it tell it got up to speed. I would have thought there would be a saftey thing to keep something like that from going on.
