Default Cruise Control Question/Idea

So I was driving and looking around for ways to integrate the cruise in my xB. I was thinking, would there be a way to take the cruise apart and put it in the right side of the steering wheel? Just like where the radio controls are, but on the other side? Just an ide, I wouldn't mind that at all :D

I've never seen the aftermarket cruise control, so I'm not sure how it's put together (i.e. can it be taken apart easily), and what's behind that blank peice on the steering wheel. It seems that it could possibly be done though. If not there, is there anywhere else to put the buttons so there's not an extra wand sticking out of the steering column? Just thinking out loud I guess.

The right spoke of the steering wheel on the new Yaris has this, but the buttons don't look the same. Maybe it is for something else? Or the on/off cruise button is on the dash somewhere.

I think buying a whole new wheel for this is overkill.

Yeah, that's the same one I was looking at. Given that the buttons are not connected once the casing is removed, it may be possible to do this. I'm going to pull off that spoke on the right and see what's up behind it. Maybe possible to Dremel out behind it, then put all the guts of the c.c. behind there? We'll see. I will keep this updated as I find out new stuff. Keep the ideas coming though!

I thought about it also but where it is at doesn't bother me enough to worry about it. Plus the wires would have to rotate with the wheel.

I just bought my new xB, and I've had this thought, as well.

Any news on what is behind the panel, and if there is a way to do this?

Trying to route the required wires to do that would be nasty.

Keep in mind that Rostra DOES make a wireless version of the controls for that cruise control with the little box of switches that mount below the wheel spoke.

There are aleo other control heads for he, including IIRC, on that mounts on the dash.

There HAS been an installation of at least one of the wireless Rostra switches on a Scion, and there is a thread in here somewhere...

Here's what a search found... https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=105413

I've had the same thought. If someone pulls this off I'll be closely following the progress!
