Default did people ever tailgate you? (rant)

i have been tailgated 2 times today. both of them started when i was waiting for green arrow light so i can turn left onto the street (as shown in the map below, it shows from start to end if you can see).

the first car was an old BMW 3-series and it has really nice rims. it was afternoon and when i look back to my rear view mirror and its some asian guy with bald head (come to think of it, he was my high school classmate). so when the lights turned green, i drive and go 40mph tops but the speed limit is 30mph. the guy behind me was kinda ____ because i was going slow? lol, so he revved the engine like an a$$. then he kept tailgating me...

the 2nd car to tailgate me was a Civic Si hatch. this was at night time and when i looked back while waiting at the lights to turn green, its another asian guy (haha, no offence of any asians here, im asian too) but he has spiked hair. the lights turned green, again, i went 40mph. lol, that guy was ____ too and he did the revving and stuff. but i kept on laughing lol

end of rant...

Just curious. . . but were you sittin in the fast lane (besides when making the left turn)? Tailgating is the least of the things I do, if someone sits in the fast lane (if not passing). But if they are making a pass, or are in a middle or slow lane, then I never tailgate.

Also there are the cocky slow drivers, who accelerate to not let other people pass, but then slow down later. . .

I don't know what it is I'm trying to say. . . in all actuality, there are a TON of really stupid drivers who shouldn't be driving aggressively. But as an experienced driver, I find it necessary to yield to faster traffic. In fact, I think it should be an enforced law. It only creates a rolling road hazard to have these impatient guys swerving around, bottlednecked behind one car.

I say the US adopts the Autobahn law where ONLY passing is allowed in the left-most lane. I too am getting sick of annoying drivers that go 60mph in the fast lane on the I-5, when everyone else is doing 80.

on the bottom left of the map, the scale shows 1in=1000ft or something. the street that i went on is only 1 lane for each direction. you can also call it residental street...

yeah, US should adopt an autobahn law, that would be cool...

Most drivers that tailgate do it to everyone they are behind. I think it's just a bad habit they learned and can't help themselves. I love the ones where you get out of their way and they rush up to the next car and have to slam on their brakes. It makes me crack up. I usually just slow down until the idiot gets a clue that I don't like them tailgating me. If that don't work I usually give them a brake check or just let them go around .

I've been thinking about installing extremely bright rear facing lights on my car, perhaps a flashbulb type setup. does anyone know what the precedent is for this? legal, anecdotal, stupidly dangerous, etc.?
I'm a passive aggressive sunday driver, and also hate tailgaters. i figure if you impair their vision for a few seconds, it would force them to slow.

Can't have them flash like strobes. (illegal while moving unless an emergency vehicle) But you could either put your brake lights or reverse lights on a toggle and turn them on to annoy them. I prefer the coast till they get a clue trick though. LOL

well, my plans are mounting a set of KC Daylighters on my sub box. Hit a switch when they tailgate you, instant rear blinding lights. Its not really legal, but some armored cars have em (the executive ones, limo's and stuff like that) or you could get a smoke screen from Autoloc, thats always a favorite James Bond move, but i vote for the KC Daylighters or other "off road use only" driving lights

They passed a law down here in FL where if you are driving in the left most lane on a 3-lane (or more) highway you can get a ticket if you are driving too slow (ie, you are being passed on the right). Too bad it really won't make any difference

Technically, its not passing on the right if there is more than one lane. From my traffic school in Jacksonville I had to go to (for getting a ticket at 9 miles over the limit) the guy said that its technically "overtaking" and you can get a ticket for improper use of lane or somethin like that. Passing on the right is when you go around someone on a one lane in each direction road on the right.

When I first got the xB I had a few tailgaters, I believe they were trying to get close enough to read the emblems on the rear to see what kind of vehicle it was.... shortly thereafter I shaved the emblems, and I haven't had any tailgaters since... most likely it is just coincidence though.

Once when going down the pike, I was going 65 and a motorcycle pulled up very close right along side of me, and the driver asked what kind of car I was driving.

its so weird because i just talked to my bro. he said that when he drives his '85 Corolla GTS (AE86) a lot of people in Hondas always tailgate him, but he ignore them. but when he drives his '01 Accord, no one bother to tailgate him, even when he go slow...

when i used to own my Tercel, rarely people tailgate me. but in my Scion, few times a day, people love to tailgate the box...

I hate tailgaters!!! I put on my brakes everytime!!!! {I hope they read this lol}

What I hate more than tailgaters are the ppl driving speed limit or UNDER in the fast lane who DO NOT merge to the right like they're supposed too!!!

For some reason I hate that!!! Doesn't everyone who drive know the rule??? lol

Esp. going into Cali on the 15!!! I hate having to get over and back over and over again! Its so annoying!

If you're not going with the flow thats what the SLOW lane is for!!! DUH!

I feel a little better now! lol

Take a deep breath and breath We're with you on that. I drive for a living and absofreakinlutly hate driving during the day. Most of my driving is at night when the left-laners are in their motels.

I'm split on whether the tailgaters behind me are more annoying than the brake-stompers in front of me. I've never understood that logic: Someone is awfully close to me so I will brake hard and bring them closer...

IMO, people should worry more about what's happening in front of them and let the drivers behind them do the same.

There are those certain drivers tho, and they are usually sporting frontend damage, that get the left footed brake cover from me. Still on the gas with the right, just enough on the brake to pop the lights. Especially sweet when entering a stoplight that's about to change to red...

I've been considering getting a sticker made in very small text saying the following:

Unless you’re a hemorrhoid, get off my ___.

I know it will draw people closer though so I won't actually do it. I really dislike when people get so close to the back you can't see either of there front headlights. It happens to me daily and I know if I pull of slow or something, it'll just ____ them off further.

If you can't get out of your car and walk behind it or even open the hatch without beheading yourself... your to close...

I only get tailgated by motorcyclists trying to draft. One guy stopped at the same gas station I did and I asked him why he'd been on my tail for the last 30 mins. He said Xb's were the best for drafting because he could sit behind me and still see all the way through the front windshield.
