Default Difference between '05 & '06???

My dealer just called with great news, my BCP box was in. But it was an '05, and I told him I would wait for an '06 when I ordered it. He said there isn't much difference between the two.
What do you guys say?

Should I wait another 3 weeks for the '06? I am leaning towards waiting.

Thanks.

The 06 cost more, because it has a new radio with I-Pod adapter. Thats it. So because of that, the 06 cost more. Later in the modle year, they are droping 2 colors & adding 2 new ones, but other then that, nothing else has changed.

I realize the '06 is $180.00 more. My reason for wanting an '06 is, down the road when I trade in or sell I believe one model year newer will be worth more. I may be wrong but that is my reasoning. And I have read thet the radio is much easier to use.
I don't know, haven't seen an '06. Another thing my salesman said that baffles me, before when I told him I wanted an '06 he said that is good because the '06 may have up to 300 subtle changes that I wouldn't even notice but they are there. and now he says there aren't many changes. Does anyone know for sure what has changed?

Hey chucksu, are you at Eglin? If so Main or one of the fields? I was there from 1967-70", my age is showing. I was at field 3 and 9.

Thanks for your help.

Im not sure about 300 subtle changes or not. Maybe like little tweeks ie: bolts a little tighter, little loser, different gaskets & so on maybe, but I dont really think it would change much. The raido with I-pod port is the only big difference right now. Yeah Im at aux field 9 aka Hurlburt Field now. There are a few of us SL members here on base. As for the radio being easier to use, IDK, never tried one out in a 05.

I heard the main thing is emission related. You can’t use any of the CAI that are currently on the market. I don’t know of any other changes.

I have not heard of that one. Im running a SR for 03-05 xBs with no problem. I dont really see what they could have done, that would make a CAI no longer work. Also the other changes, is because of the new SAE power rating standards, the 06 xB has 105hp & 103tq compared to last years 108hp & 105tq.

Different standard stereo (with aux-in and rotary controls). Different optional stereo (iPod-ready). Different standard wheel covers. Different colors to be phased in mid-year. Change in the way HP is measured (not a change in the engine itself). Higher MSRP.

That's the entire list of documented changes. Everything else is rumor and myth.

Since the entire platform upon shich the xB is based is being phased out, and this is the last year for the current desigh, it would make little sense for Toyota to invest anything in the R&D and tooling changes it would take to creat "300 subtle changes." That sounds like salesman talk.

If you take the '05, you can get a Scion Boost bonus, which could offset the difference in resale value down the line, depending on when you sell it.

Take the '05, get the Boost reward, start being cooler now.

There may be two new colors available around December, but that's the only real news for 2006, oh yeah, and a volume **** on all radios. That's it.

Yeah dont believe a word a saleperson might tell you. I had some idiot saleman tell me yesterday that the "t2x will be a limited edition and only 400 will be made". I told the sales guy that the "t2b is a concept that scion created- not a production vehicle"

IDIOTS!!

Then again, this is same dealership that wanted my buddy to buy a used 05'xB with 9K miles for $17999. IT HAD HUBCAPS AND A SPOILER!!!!

One year what? The wait for one? The difference between the 2? This is just unclear. I waited over a year to place a order for my scion, but it only took 3 weeks once I did place the order. Make your self a little more clear then something as random as "one year!"

i laughed a ton, for no reason...

yea, mine, that was ordered last tuesday, is a 2006.. so it has ***** instead of those space-age volume buttons?? PRAISE GOD... those dern things were bothersome. you know, my dealer has no clue about Scions.. not one. actually, nobody there does. they're all pathetic. i honestly knew more about the vehicle he was selling than he did. it was very sad. he said, "we don't really do much, they sell themselves" or something like that... i was thinking to myself.. "you're dern right.. because you're doing an awful job.."

Depreciation. Insurance costs. Yearly tag and title cost. I think it is better to own a new prior year vehicle if you can live with not having the newest thing out there.
