got to love a company that keeps its customers on their toes. Would be cool to have a car they only made for a few years, but then again, the xB is a hot seller, and i love seeing more and more on the road!!!
i am excited i was just talking about this with the wife today. was thinking about how upsetting it would be to not have as unique a car as i thought i would. i agree that the toaster has the same appeal as the first gen beetle etc i would have liked to see maybe another year with the xB just to see how far the aftermarket would go
however i am glad overall to here that the toaster will be a short run car

I guess we should cheer every wrecked xB for making it more rare and us cooler!

well yeah it would being as though one of the selling points was that scion wasn't going to have on going name plates like all the other car co.s out there. i am really tired of having a vehicle(s) that have millions on the road, except for my old bug. i remember reading rumors that scion was going to go ahead and keep the xB because of it's popularity.
as far as wishing the horrible fortune of a wreck on anyone not ever not even my enimies.
at the same time it'll take less time for these cars to become sought after collectibles due to limited production #'s and the rs's even more so.
VW Beetle is a great proof that a car can be unique regardless of how many thousands or millions were produced. When it was announced back in '78 that it will be last year for German made Bug they were sold out immediately even though they have passed their popularity peak. Alot of people wanted to get them even though they didn't have much use for the car. For that reason it is not too difficult to find a low mileage '78 today, but prepare to pay 10 to 15K for a good cabrio.
Expect similar thing to happen to xB. It is a cult car allready and it is unique for US market. In the age of throwaway compacts this one stand out as something that you can have an emotional connection to.
I wish they keep making them as long as they sell, but if the first US gen xB was just a "tester"'- it did GREAT. I am happy I got one. As anyone with the Box will agree, there is alot room for improvement, and Toyota will do just that, hopefully.

from my understand(from another thread on here related to the xa) its going to be on the corrolla chassis, which means manual 6 speed options for the XB! and I also understood they would keep the name

First my Axis MagLites were discontinued, then the Camo color and now the whole freakin' car!
