Discount on Scions
The ad in this morning's paper, in Hyannis, MA, by the local Toyota-Scion dealer, offers a $500 discount on any new Scion. Last time I went by they had one xB and several xAs in stock.
a dealer is free to set their own pricing on everything. you can sellit for whatever you want as long as it is the same for everyone, and posted on your website and in the showroom. we could charge $50 grand for xB's as long as all the xB's we sell are $50,000
no, dealerships can lose 30% of their allocation for being in breach of compliance with the scion dealer covenant. this includes the pure price element which only says that the dealer must charge everyone the same price for the same thing, i/e/ cars, accessories, interest rates(per credit score) etc. we can charge whatever we want, as long as we post it in the showroom and on the website and make sure everyone gets the asme deal, be it more or less than MSRP. Scion legally cannot tell a dealer what to sell a car for, but they can regulate how it is sold. this is how pure price came around. almost all dealers use the MSRP as the price to sell cars for, but some choose to sell it for another price, and as long as they sell it to EVERYONE for that same price for whatever designated timeframe they choose, they are good to go!
no no no , lol.
basically it has to be "all automatic xB's cost $xx,xxx from such and such date to such and such date" . then anyone who buys a car from this day to this day gets it for this price, make sense?

basicly they are taking some of the tacked on fees off of the end price of the car, IE shipping, paperwork fees, sales tax, if they allowed you to choose where that $500 off went, I'd choose taxes every time, mine were 1700 for a base model with cruise

another dealer scam
as long as all of their advertising, websites and prices in the showroom match, they can charge whatever they fell like. technically they could negotiate on anything if they really wanted to but would be penalized by scion if they caught it in an audit . . .
