Default Do I have scion security?

Hi all, just a quick question for those of you with the scion security system installed on your xb's. My xb came with a keyless entry remote with a panic button on the back that beeps the horn when you press it. Is this also the security system? Thanks in advance.

if you are wondering if you have Scion Security, look for the following features in your car to verify:

1. Scion Security stickers on your windows
2. The bottom of your center console has 3 knockout blocks. A Scion Security LED/Mic will occupy one of those blocks.
3. Roll down your windows all the way. Turn off the car, and get out. Now lock your car with the remote. Now reach in to unlock the car manually by the inside lock stick. It should Panic.

does that help ?

Thanks for the reply, it would appear that it does not have scion security. Do you know if the scion security can be installed with relative ease? Would it work off of the same remotes that I currently have? Lastly where can I get it for a good price. Thanks again.

Acutally spanky, I do know what I bought. I just figured that a car with a remote for door locks equiped with a panic buttom might have an alarm on it that I wasn't aware of. I know I didn't pay extra for a security system but thought that there may have been one equipped with it. Why don't you go do something usefull with your yourself instead of bashing on peoples posts ya silly twit. I just don't understand people like you.

i personally wouldnt be able to install the scion security as i dont trust myself enough when it comes to most auto electrical systems. however, it shouldn't be too bad for those with confidence or some electrical experience, though i think it may be a bit involved (definitely not a trivial weekend warrior job, but i could be wrong). i think only the dealer offers scion security and yes you will use the same remotes. if you do decide to go with a security system, many would suggest an aftermarket one, as they tend to have more features and customizations and better sensitivity for a relatively lower price.

Cost is $279 plus dealer markup and installation labor, etc. It can be installed post factory. I think after markup and such it will be in the mid $400s. Might be cheaper to get something aftermarket. However dlr installed will allow it to keep 3/36 warranty.

You should get a good after market security system. You will have a better system for less money.........

Default Scion insecurity

The security system is amisnomer. It provides security (more $$) for the scion dealers. I paid ~500$ and its still not working like the manual says it should. The cheesy system lets you know thasomeone has broken into your BOX, got what they wanted & they are gone..

The system works well when properly adjusted (SEARCH is your friend), but it lacks some features that are avaialble on aftermarket systems.

I bought Scion Security because a "factory-installed security system" (even though Scion's is technically dealer-installed) got me a big enough discount on my insurance to pay for the system over 10 years.

But if I were really worried about theft, I'd go aftermarket.

Yes, the Scion security system sucks from what I've heard.
BTW, we sure have been seeing eye to eye on a lot of stuff lately. Kinda scary huh?

Everyone seems to be missing the real reason to get the Scion Security. You can get these cool covers and change the color of the remote fob.

I thought of getting mine Scion security system. Went to the dealership, all they said how much the parts were going to run and that it might take two hours to almost 10 hours to install. But they didn't tell me how much it was going to be for labor.

Then I thought of getting aftermarket system, I've noticed people in my neighborhood usually have their security too tight and the sucker will go off anytime mainly 3am-4am...which I wouldn't like so much. I only want it for keyless remote cause key and lock is getting a little old for me and if someone stole my car I have insurance.

Unfortunatley, those color covers for the remote only fit the xA's key fob, so you got lucky...I didn't have a choice when I bought my RS2.0, it was already installed...It is definately not worth the $400 or so dollars they charged for it...

That was a bit of sarcasm on that post YELOSUB. Although, I absolutely didn't know you box'ers can't get the fob covers.

BTW....Nice wheels. The yellow really makes them stand out better. I've got the Unknown's and I'd deffinitely like to have them match my flint mica, but I'm way too cheap to get it done.
