sorry it took me so long to reply guys. ok i was wondering how you guys liked it. I was thinking about buying a cat back for my XB, but i didnt know which one to buy. At first i wanted the split rear exit which is the Dual exhaust right? but i didnt really want to cut a hole in my rear bumper to fit it. so i just wanted to buy the single rear exit cat back exhaust but didnt know which model it was. I went to www.BORLA.com and looked at them both. at first i thought that the model #11741 was the single cat back exhaust, but it says dual left exhaust. do you think that it is a single? or does it have 2 exhausts on the same side. also, i wanted to know if there is any difference in quality, sound, or performance in them both. And the last thing i wanted to know is if anyone has any videos or pictures or sound clips of the exhaust in action. sorry for asking so many questions guys, i just really wanna know about the model before i buy it. thanks guys!!!<3333

Listen, your doing your homework before you commit to buying, and i do the same thing.

Here is what i have to say about my Borla axel back. First, the flang that bold up where the Borla meets the the stock exhaust is a bit too large on mine. I believe i have one of the first Borlas made ( i bought it used off another box owner who had it for some time ) and this may be the reason for the poor fitment. What i ended up doing was taking a small piece of header wrap and using that as the interior gasket. No big deal.

Another issue is that the tip sticks out about an inch more then what the Borlas that are currently made. I have parked next to another box with the same Borla and his didnt stick out as far as mine did. At first it bugged me, but now i have gotton used to it. It doesnt look ricey, but you can clearly make out the Borla on the tip with room to spare.

The sound, i love it. The muffler is just a tat bit louder then stock. It is no where near as loud as the 1st Gen Strup that my GF has on her box. To take a ride in her xB you need ear plugs. Hers is noisey as all hell. Mine, she likes very much, to the point where she looks for a really good price on a used Borla for herself!

I got my Catback about 3 months ago, ish... As new as it is, Borla has corrected the flange fitment. I picked it up and had it installed 30 minutes later. And I love that the tip sticks out just far enough to read Borla. Got to hear the sound for the first time as a pedestrian the other day and I fell in love w/ it again.

Ohh I see. So the borla axel back that you have isn't that loud? Would it make a sound difference at all if I get a Cat back? Cuz that's what I was planning on getting. So its not really that loud? I want a cat back that sounds really loud. Like really mean and performance sounding. Not all ricey. What is better for performance and a louder sound. A Borla or a GReddy?

If you want Loud and tinny, go with the greddy. If you want deep throaty sound go with the Borla.

Borla quotes their power gain for the single exit catback as 4 hp, Would expect the greddy to be close to that.

Ive been wondering the same thing. I want a deep louder exhaust note. I do like the dual exits for the Borla dual exhaust but I was thinking of going with the Strup V2 because from what I read on these boards that is the deepest loudest exhaust. Does anyone disagree?

niice. id rather have a deep brutal sound than a really loud ricey sound. or wait, what did you mean by when you said tinny? like really high pitch sounding?

Go with the Strup! If it is too loud for those long road trips just buy the silencer for it.

so the strup is hella loud or what? but does it sound good, thats the thing, there could be a cat back that sounds like poop and be hella loud and a cat back that sounds really good and is low. that is why i wanna look for sound clips and stuff so i can get an idea of how all these different exhausts sound. alot of people who have really nice cars have recommended Borla and GReddy. And ive heard a borla and it sounded really nice. so if anyone knows where i can find any sound clips on any cat backs that are on an XB hit me up yo!!!<333

If you are looking for just any exhaust, check out tanabe's website, they have two clips of an xb with their exhausts.

I'm in the same boat on this. I'd love putting a new exhaust on the box however I refuse to put anything that sounds ricey. I hate the '____ed off bumblebee in a tin can' sound. But I also don't want ridiculously loud either. Just a nice low growl will work for me.

Thanks for the link... I checked out the two vids.... its too bad they didnt record the sound of the exhaust verry well... but it gave me a bit of an idea.

I wish I could get a job from them to properly record the sound of all the sweet cars exhaust notes..... that would be a dream contract for sure.
