Default Don't buy the hood dampers Godspeed sells on eBay!

Avoid the pieces of crap that Godspeed sells on eBay, they are built poorly and he sells as-is. I bought a set and had to re-cut the threads just to be able to assemble them. The studs on the struts were crooked. When I mounted them they were so strong they bowed my hood up in the middle. After I opened and closed the hood a couple of times I noticed it bending my hood when I tried to close my hood, I had to remove one of them to be able to close my hood. I only use one of them now to hold my hood up until I get a set of Teins hood dampers.

Here is a picture of them laying end to end to show you how bad they are.

Yeah..we had a guy here buy a set off of Ebay from them...the threads were the same way and the universal mounting plates were junk..he got his money back through PayPal and bought the Redline struts.

Yeah I got a set and the quality sucks *****. I haven't tried to put them on yet but am thinking about not installing them with the whole bending of the hood thing.

Update:

I left him negative feedback because he sells junk and he leaves me negative also.

This is what he said about me:
"BEWARE EBAYERS!!! DOESN'T KNO HW 2 FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS!!! BEWARE EBAYERS!!!"

I know how to follow instructions, but the instructions say "Don't worry if they are not straight, just use them and they will work." I will complain about the quality.

I made my own struts like 3 years ago using Mighty Lift struts I bought from Autozone. I made my own brackets and they work flawlessly since. Total cost for the struts were like 60 bucks.

It would be funny if a bunch of people that had ebay accounts were to send him a question like "What is more crooked, you or your hood dampers?".

well I got a set of Godspeed's off Ebay over a year ago and they are still working good on my xB. maybe I got lucky and the ones I got were actually made well. I have had no problems but it sounds like maybe the guy on Ebay is getting China knockoffs which are worse quality.

Do you have a p/n for the struts? Or an open&closed length? I'm thinking machined 6061 brackets would look cool!

Thanks!

I made my brackets so they fit underneath the hood hinge brackets. The pivot point for the strut is just past where the hinge bracket ends. That # sturt comes with ball ends for both. The only thing you will need is the nuts and washers for the ball studs. The hole you drill in the fender for the lower mounting point will determine how high the hood opens. I set mine lower than the hood prop so it stands out when next to other xBs in a line.
