Again guys as I pointed out, he used OBX plugs. If he chose a quality plug like NGK or Denso, he would not have had this issue in the first place.

 

Might as well add my old 2000 Echo (1NZ-FE) came with iridium plugs from the factory (Densos probably). It sez so in the manual.

Most all current / modern engines come with iridium plugs. Kind of a no brainer with all the benifits a fine wire electrode has over a large 1.1mm+ electrode.

 

Ok that was the main problem there. I have been running NGK iridium plugs since 30,000miles and I have had no problems. Better gas milage and better pickup. I am at 125,000 miles and no coilpacks burned up and I still get 30-33MPG. :D

 

NGK Iridiums gaped at .044 are perfectly safe in an xB. The Prius has the same exact coils as the xB and comes stock with Iridium plugs.

 

You seriously need to reword the title of this thread to read.
"Caution: Do Not Use OBX or other knockoff Iridium plugs in your xB"
As it is written now it's very misleading and false.

Don't put off brand parts in your xB. How much did you save over Denso or NGK? Divided by 30K miles?

45k on Iridiums with no compliants. Why would anyone put anything from OBX on their car? Their stuff is crap.

Denso Iridiums FTW!!!! I've had mine for about a year and have had no problems or hiccups. In fact, Toyota uses Iridiums from the factory in some of their engines. I used to have a Solara with the 3.3L engine and they came str8 from the factory with iridium plugs. I didn't even know OBX made iridiums. I wouldn't even buy anything that said OBX on them.

 

well nevertheless got the xb back today everything was covered under waranty even the new plugs 2 new coil packs and an oil pressure sensor driving like brandnew

actually just met some one who blew a coil pack in their yaris running ngk iridiums

 

i would never use anything different that NGK.
