Who has done it in their box?!
I will be driving from So Cal to Cleveland in a couple weeks. I am already anticipating it to be a 'slow boat to china' kinda drive.

we drove from south florida to ny and then back, it took us 26 hours with stopping for dogs and a 1hr nap. I would say average speed that we went was 85 mph. it was bumpy but thats cause we have coilovers, but definately not a slow boat to china. then again we drive like the devils on our ___.

Three Boxes from Scinergy Georgia just caravanned to the Ames, Iowa from Atlanta.
It was 2000 miles round trip and we had a blast. We are all lowered and found some
states need to their improve the right lanes. It was very bumpy sometimes. Over all
it was very easy. We set the cruise to 75 and had no trouble with cops.

Stick or Auto? You might have to gear down on the inclines...........You might also want to invest in an arm rest if you don't have one already.

Its an auto. No arm rest. It really bugged me when I first got it, since it didnt have one. But now that I have had it for a couple months, I don't mind!

You might mind going cross country. It could well be worth the $100 or so it would cost. I have heard the autos are a little sluggish going over the mountains. Good luck on your venture..........

It's funny this thread should pop up. My mom and I are planning a cross-country trip to take place in late October. We will be going AL to NM and back. She said we should definately take the Squaremobile, as she calls it. I think she just wants a chance to drive it!

word of advise, armrest is a must, and if you have 17's or 18's i would put the stockers back on so that the ride will be a little more forgiving on the bumps

Is the factory arm rest the same height as the window sill or the cushioned area in the door? If not, is there an armrest that is?

Mine was awsome on two 9+ hour long trips last summer. Had the cruise set at 80 m.p.h, so I would not get mowed over on I-95. Kept up with traffic on all scenarios. Would drive to Alaska in it if I had to.

I do have the factory arm-rest and that made a big diff. However, before that, I just used my bookbag in between the seats as a make-shift arm-rest and that worked pretty cool too if you don't have the moola to spring for an armrest before the trip.

I do TN to MI on a regular basis. Running the stock wheel/tire setup will help. The seats are very good for long trips. Have fun and enjoy the time spent in the box. You will enjoy it. Be Safe most of all!

We have driven the wife's xB all over California and it does just fine. It does have to work a little hard in the hills being that it is an automatic. Even made one trip to Vegas in it last year for SEMA. We wouldn't hesitate to jump in it and drive cross country.

The wife even has another trip to Vegas planned with her sister in June. I told her I would pull the 18s off and through the stocks on so that they wouldn't have to worry as much about bad roads. Her response? NO WAY! I guess she figures if she is rollin' the box to Vegas she is doing it in style.

I've drove mine to from South Carolina to Kansas on 18's with exhaust several times. If you have a loud exhaust... it gets very old after 18 hours of listening to it. Besides that, its not a bad road trip car at all.
