Default dynamat/e-dead ride noise?

Hey guys,

Jus wonderin if anyone has done or had experience with dynamating to eliminate ride noise...the xb does stink at noise reduction, and I'm not looking at dynamating the entire car...expensive..

Would dynamating the front floors and doors make a big difference? Any ideas of cost?

Thx,
Eddy

I used about 40sq feet of Damplifier from Second Skin on my xB. It made a noticeable difference.

I did the front & rear doors, rear 1/4 panel, hood, front fenders, footwells, rear cargo floor, rear hatch & ceiling above seats. I didn't go for 100% coverage, just adding enough mass to deaden the sound. The doors shut like a vault door now, not a tin can. The road & engine drone is reduced. Oddly now that I've made it quieter that way, I notice the wind noise a lot more.

EDIT: this is what I used, 40sq ft will run you $98+shipping. I also used it in my '62 Mercury and it has been worth every penny.

OT: Does anyone know what they use in OEM applications for sound deadening? ex: Lexus, or even a Camry

I put some dynamat under the hood. I didn't have much and it was the easiest to access. I don't think it made any difference- maybe quieted the intake noise a little. I don't think putting it on the floor would do as much as the doors, hatch, quarter panels. Someone had said the firewall too. I'll probably put some in the hatch next.

i've heard that doing just the hatch and the cargo floor reduces most of the road noise. i'm going to start there and see how it works.

thx for the input guys...

tho im still wondering what to cover necessarily....the doors seems as a must, tho there is some mixed views on the hood and floors...the firewall seems like a good bet since the engine does get loud, sounds tough to cover tho...the ride is just so loud now in my car, i need to change my front shocks for sure i think it might be a factor, i have over 110,000 miles without replacing them and i had the box lowered for half of it, which probably killed my shock life ...lol

i've heard that doing just the hatch and the cargo floor reduces most of the road noise. i'm going to start there and see how it works."...
yeah let me know bbszero, i would think tht all the noise is from the front, you suggest the back...hmm

maybe i should just dip the box in liquid dynamat...haha...if it were only possible
