I found out this afternoon that the box will be totaled. I should find out tomorrow what the insurance company will pay. I'm just hoping it's enough to pay off the loan and have a little extra for a down payment on a new car.

IMHO, its totalled, usually a good rule of thumb that someone told me was if the air bags deployed, its pretty much done. Also do you have Gap insurance/coverage on the car? If not you may be spending some more money if the insurance does not cover the full loan amount. Whatever car your getting next, if its used consider gap insurance/coverage.

Hope your doing alright though, its been a couple of days since the accident and the pain doesnt get ne better till about a week. Stay on the meds tho!!!!

I am getting 11,300 for the box which will pay off the remainder of my loan and give me a chunk for the down payment on a new car. Still undecided as to what's next, but we'll see. I now have a bunch of parts sitting in my garage that I might try to get rid of...stock rims, hubcaps, exhaust manifold, exhaust, full set of emblems, and the list goes on.
And yes, I am staying on the meds

Glad you're okay. Sorry to hear about the box, given any thought as to what you're replacing it with?

I ended up buying a 2005 Jetta tonight. I thought about getting another box but just couldn't climb back into one. It will be missed.

Sad to see a loyal little box give up its all to protect you, but glad it did.

Hope you are feeling better - that was one heck of a whack you and the box took.

Good luck with your Jetta, and don't forget your friends over here on ScionLife.

Take care!

I will still pop in from time to time to see how things are going. I can't quit cold-turkey

If you're taking medicine for that crap I'd have a lawyer on hand.

Are you going to sue the SUV driver? SUV drivers are mostly insane - they should require a special license to operate huge farm trucks on the road. Sue them.

I haven't retained a lawyer yet but I am considering it. I have medical bills, lost time from work, etc. I am still having chest pains. I could go on and on with how this moron SUV driver has changed my life.

And did I mention that he claims he never even saw me??

(I just hope you didn't close out any of your options by accepting the insurance settlement...)

Nope. I have not received a settlement. I was contacted once by the other driver's insurance company but that was it.

Sorry, my misunderstanding.

I thought you'd gotten $11,300 for the box.

Nevermind! :D
