Default Engine guard question...

how hot do they really get? I was thinking of adding another logo on there and it would be stuck on with adhesive. Will this work or do they get hot enough that the adhesive wouldn't hold?

It should hold. Randode has those VVTI stickers for people who paint their engine covers, and I've never heard of those coming off. You should be good to go.

along the same lines, can anyone suggest an affordable but yet quality light kit for the engine bay? LED or cold cathode?

I have the flex strip LED lights on mine, I can show you a pic of mine if you like.
Use to run the cathodes but they are not really rain and snow friendly.

Just add some of the cold cathode kits from Oznium.
BTW, I have a vinyl graphic on one of mine and it has survived for over a year so the cover does not get that hot.

Good to know about the cold cathodes. I'll probably go with the LEDs then.

They are fine underhood as long as you seal them up with silicone first. For the price, the cold cathodes are the best bang for the buck but the choice is yours.
I installed greencold cathodes on my wifes Jeep with zero problems. They even se under water duty and work fine. The key is the silicone.

Do you mean seal the seams or the entire light? I'm curious now.

Seal any and all seams and around the plugs and those little holes. You can even seal up around the ends of the bulbs for safe measure.
