Default Engine swaps possible

I know ther are numerous threads on here about engine swaps into the first generation xbs but has anybody ever done any research on what will actually bolt right in as far as to the tranny, the mounts, etc-the actual places where the engine is held at?

I guess the reason I haven't see anything that gets to what I am hoping is everybody is going nuts with the 2XXX and turboing it or adding the motor from a 'whatever' would be cool.

If there was a way we could simply bolt in the motor from an XD or a 2004 Matrix or a 01 celica or whatever, adding that 20-40hp would be a great benefit especially if it was still just a reliable toyota motor and that would make it quite a bit quicker.

So does anybody know anything about anything like this?

All I can say is that if it was that easy, lots of people would've done it already.

That's what I am trying to find out-everyone that seems to want to do a swap is looking for MAJOR hp-not just that extra 20hp and a reliable motor.

They seems to be fixated on what came from this turbo model or what has a huge log of performance options (i.e. like a celica motor or something) and not just the little xtra.

Well, I'd say that people have looked into most of their swap options.

At the end of the day, forced induction can be just as reliable and more cost effective to do.

Besides, if someone wedged a 2ZR-FE or something in there, I doubt it would remain stock.

If I really wanted 40 HP, a Greddy or Blitz compressor can do that.

i was thimking the same as you but just as he sayed in the above post if you really only want 30-40 then the greedy unit would be a good fit ..it would be cheaper aswell as you can sometimes find them used for about 1,000 far less than a swap and is still very reliable ...i debated on a swap after i pay the car off but decide just to try and find a greedy unit myself that way i can still keep the car clean and use it like normal..

Quote "The xD is based on the Toyota Yaris platform, but features the 128 hp 1.8-liter engine (2ZR-FE) found in the Yaris T-Sport, which is available in Europe and Asia, instead of the 1.5 liter, 106 hp 1NZ-FE"

This is what I am saying, I really doubt Toyota would go to all the work of having two engine choices that would require re-welding the chassis and mounting points just for a different power supply on select models.

yeah got ya it would def be worth it..you could put the same basic stuff i/h/e and it would be a very nice drive with room to grow or just a nice stocker ...that would be my choice of engines if i had to chose one..but the fi still makes sense price wise

True, but would it mate properly to the drivetrain? It might fit, but the other stuff might be a headache. I just don't think it would be quite as easy as just dropping the new power plant in there.

Any motor swap mentioned requires modifying the engine mounting location on the driver's side.

I know of a swap.... But to be an _______, I am not leaking it. Only 3 or 4 xB1 owners know about it, and we are all keeping it quiet until one of us buys the motor/ecu and tranny and gets started on it.... It puts down about 150 to the wheels, and isn't a new motor.

No because that would be a giant waste of money. Bike engines belong on bikes and go karts... Not compact cars.

The swap that 3 or 4 xb1 owners or anyone that read some of the threads on other sites still requires modifying the driver's side engine mount.

It also requires notching the sub frame rail.... But anyone who's decent at welding, and knows a little about motor swaps can do this swap for under 2K (depending on hook ups, skill, and what type of resources you have)
