Default FINALLY. Decent gas mileage!

Ok.....so.......under MY normal driving conditions.........I've been averaging 20 mpg with every fill up (so.....between 19 mpg and 21 mpg consistently).

When I tried REALLY hard......and I mean REALLY hard (granny style) to get better mileage.........i topped out at 23 mpg. ____!

So....my car is at 3500 miles......and I decided I didn't want to wait till the 5000 mile mark to get my "Free" oil change. I changed my oil myself instead........with Mobil 1 Synthetic 5w-30. I also disconnected my battery for about 30 mins to reset the ECU.

My most recent tank.......I got 28.18 mpg. I WAS driving pretty granny style the whole time...........but that still beats the 23 I got the last time I drove granny style.

Woohoo......finally some mpg that doesn't blow!

I'm looking forward to that!

I hear ya! I was getting about 17 mpg with my '03 Lancer Evo, and it took premium too. Sold it for the xB......double the mileage, and regular gas.

And still cool!

Take it in if it's stock it shouldn't get tjat kind of mileage unless you constanty drive in the city up hill with a head wind.

You don't know how he drives The KingLou here like to floor it to every location in vegas and has no muffler, but he does have a straight pipe with a tip. So the dealer won;t be able to help hime out! :D

Why would that effect what the dealer does? My straight pipe exhaust isn't the cause of my problem. In fact......I've proven that it actually increased my MPG about 1-2 miles per gallon. You think they'd give me crap about it? Don't I have protection under that damn Magnusson Moss Act.....that's what its called right? It's not like I have NO muffler........i've got the primary (resonator) still on.

trust me your mpg will get better , at 12000 miles mine got a little better but right now i got 28000 and on a trip to mexico i got 38 mpg and that was with sitting in traffic for an hour and a half crossing back over , i havnt done anything to it other than oil changes . i use mobil full synthetic 5-w 30 and i got a 5 speed and i only use 91 octane , on average i get about 34mpg , thats city and highway driving combined and i usually do 80 mph on the freeway .

Fairly Impressive!!! 4 questions... What brand synthtic? What are your changeing intervals? Why 91 octane? Have you made any mods to your car with the motor or wheels or ride height?

I am using NGK sparkplugs, and I forgot the gap was. :D There is a topic on it in the power hungry area.

Mine has like 600 miles on it and my first tank i got around 27.5mpg...however, it has been hot like hell here in LA so I've been using the AC a lot. how much does that affect the gas???

Should have posted this here the 1st time.. but here goes..

Are you all driving sticks?
Mine is an AUTO..
and even with STOCK wheels, it took 2.5 tanks to drive from ATL to STL.. That should have taken me less than 2 tanks. I had a 150mile break-in period for the car before I put it on the road too.

What gives..

I'm using the cheap gas.. only mod is 17inch BSA's. I got about 235 miles on the highway before I had to fill up again. The trip I took is only 262 miles. My 3000GT can do it on 3/4 tank (it holds 16gallons, but if you think about it.. it 's getting the same mileage) I set the cruize (on the BOXX) at 75-80 mph. no AC on..

Anything you guys know I can do ( I tried slowing down.. 65mph - was in the same rpm band and no noticeable difference) to help out my mileage??? I already tried turning off the traction control -- nothing.

Finally, at cruise 75-80mph, I'm at 32-3300rpm
P.S. The cruise control is stock -- I bought it in a state that offers it..
