Finaly It's Here...Bad experience so far
BTW dealer was Performance Toyota/Scion in Reading PA.
Noooo not up front. We had to put a 500$ deposit down when I first went in. I was told that no matter what that money could not be given back. But I will be paying it all up front in cash when I pick it up. Just a little mad at how they have been so far. I have two family members with xB's and from what I know their experience was not like mine. Just giving my opinion so far thanks.
unfortunately some dealers no matter what the brand just are sub par. sorry you had to deal with one. don't worry you'll love the box and the bad dealership memories will be long past .
Thanks for the replys. I know once I have the keys everything that happen isn't going to matter. SuperCrunch I was also calling the dealer during the past few weeks, and they would tell me they would call back and never did. And FosBox, they told me the deposit could only be used for another car, and was not refundable. I know this isn't the same for most of you guys on the board, guess I just picked the wrong dealer. I'm looking foward to doing some mods, and meeting new people, and having fun with my xB.
Took 2 weeks to get our XB. We put down $500 (cheque) They never cashed it, and said it was refundable. They stated once the car comes in, if were not happy, we would get the cheque back!!! When our XB did come in, we did get the cheque back!! There selling like hot ckaes, so they knew if we didnt buy it, some one else would!!!
My sales person was so cool, he told me within a couple
hours when the car was going to be there, and gave me
updates along the way with my sunroof install, and some
issues I had when the sunroof installers dented up one of
my doors.
It was all taken care of, and I felt like instead of fighting
the dealership, they were fighting for me to get me what I
wanted each step of the way.
You just really need to find out who's the best in your area I guess.

I really had a great experience with both my dealer (Beck Toyota/Scion-Greenwood, IN) and my salesman (George Fuller).
The major problem I had was with Toyota not being able to tell me (or the dealer) when the car would arrive. They missed delivery dates, and that is frustrating. My dealer was very good about calling me and keeping me informed about their allotment, delivery dates that they were told, etc.
I also gave them $1,000 down when I ordered the car, but, if they could not deliver the car or I found one elsewhere, I could have gotten it back. In fact, the it was taking so long to get the car, the dealer offered to give me my money back. (Glad I didn't take him up on that, the xB is a blast)

I feel sorry for you people that have to wait for your Scion. I have at least 3 Scion dealerships withen a 15 mile radius and all of them have Scions on the lot. I walked on the dealership on Saturday, test drove and then bought it.
When I ordered mine I was told it might be 6-8 weeks. I wasn't too worried, I was getting exactly what I wanted. Anyway, it arrived at the dealer in 3 weeks and it took another week to get the accessories I wanted with it. I think part of the reason for me getting it so quickly is the fact that I wanted a manual.
Dealer was a PITA, but I got my car and have been happy with it (well, except for the fact that they didn't install the lowering springs and sport exhaust, but they are doing that this week, and then I'll hopefully never have to deal with this dealer again!!!!).

Just remove the front headrests, slide the front seats all the way forward and recline them all the way back. DONE.
I'm just glad we got ours at all. We had decided last year that our next car would be an xB, but couldn't justify replacing the '96 Caravan (POS) that was still running OK. Then it was totalled, and suddenly we had to get a new car right away.
The issue then became xB availability; fortunately, there was one on the boat that would arrive just in time, before the insurance stopped paying for a rental.
Our excellent salesman (Alvin Chan at ConicelliScion, Springfield PA) actually offered us his personal xB for a test drive, since there were none on the lot.
I get the sense that xB availability is better on the West Coast, which makes sense as long as they're still being made in Japan, and where they've been available longer and are a bit less novel. They still seem pretty scarce in the East, mostly being reserved by buyers before they ever arrive.

It's interesting the availability of the xB in different parts of the country, it's hard to imagine waiting 6-8 weeks for one.
When I decided on my color it was a matter of calling the local dealers to see who had silver.
The only car I ever waited for was the SC, I got on the list in December of '00 and received the car in May of '01.
