Five Years and Going Strong
Our little xB turned five last month, and is the second longest lasting car in the family, aside from the 1977 Super Beetle Convertible that we bought from the original owner ten years ago.
Two significant accidents later, it is still surprisingly straight and tight. Other than tires, oil, filters, and an exhaust that Magniflow replaced for free when it started rattling, it has been a trouble free owner experience.
At under 35,000 miles so far, it would be a stretch to nominate it for any endurance awards, but it did survive some teenage boy drive time fairly well.

Yeah It is my only vehicle - only down for 10 days after I got hit it went into the Body Shop to get fixed. My First and only oil change and first filter change was at 3700 miles and I put in Synlube 5w50 which will stay in for 150,000 miles with only a couple of filter changes the next one after 36,000 +3700 and 75k+3700. Yeah the stuff is great and d o e s N O T break down . . . better than Amsoil too. Added about a cup of add oil to bring it up to the full mark at 10,000 miles and it could use another cup now at 28,109 miles but it is only down a little on the stick. I expect the drain plug area to get rusty any year now - not a trace of oil leaking anywhere.
Purchased in May of 2006, so.......3 and a half years later.....109,878 miles (I drive 57 miles to work, one way). I have yet to replace the brake pads or shoes. I just rarely use them! Just changed the coolant - which was very clean - oh well.
Currently rolling on TRD's. Will switch to OEM Steelies for winter.
I did have to replace a stuck door lock. No big deal - other than crawling over the manual stick from the passenger side,
.
Its been a GREAT commuter, getting 31-33 mpg's. AND I once put 3 sheets of 4x8 drywall inside it! And yet, I still want a MINI Cooper. Maybe I'll keep both -after all, with this many miles, my little boxer isn't worth much.

Ha... You dont use oil, that dumb... I prefer to run mine without coolant, plus I get a ton more ponies since I rerouted the serpentine belt away from the water pump...
wow that is even better than my mods that indreases my hp... I went to synthetic blinker fluid and omitted the fuel filter

No, for real power increase take the tranny out, really helps with weight transfer when your racing
I used to run water in the gas tank but the weight of water is much heavier than gasoline so recently I started pumping in Hydrogen instead and now the back end almost lifts off the ground when I brake.
Man that sounds like a great idea but how the heck do you keep the front end ligned up without the tranny?
