Default Friend made me a shift boot

I know this is petty, but I was really impressed. here is the story.

I went over to a friends house to change the wheels on my VW. His girlfriend has been dabbling in making shiftboots. She has made quite a few applications ( STI, Z06, Miata to name a few). She wanted to make one for the scion and use mine for the "prototype". I agreed, and we took the boot out to make a pattern. I had no idea she had so many supplies. In the closet they had a rack with a bunch of fabrics, and she wanted me to pick what one I liked. (vinyl, CF look, alcantera suede, afew more) I know its kinda plain, but I picked black Alcantera( not the cheap stuff). I would have done grey/silver stitching to contrast a bit, but she didnt have that color thread at the time. So I picked black thread. In about an hour she had it basicly done. Reusing the stock top collar and the wire in the stock boot base.

I think it turned out nice. I dont "mod" my scion( I want to) because I use it so much on long drives and I dont want to "worry" about it all the time. So this is something new on a car that doesnt usually get any mods. The fact she was able to turn out a sweet boot in an hour was the cool thing. When I was inspecting the boot before install....it was really well done. I know this is too much hype for a shiftboot but it was a really nice thing a friend did....and I thought Id share.

Pics

The second pic is kinda washedout, it looks (colorwise) like the first pic.

Default custom shift boot

if your friend is looking to do this as a business, you might have just given them a whole lot of new customers! because i think that looks great and with what you mentioned about her selection of different materials i am completely interested.
if she has her own website or other contact let us all know.

Well mine was the "prototype"...so she should be trying to make more as soon as she feels the final style is good enough. We will see what other versions she comes up with. I guess mine will be the car that will get the first versions on, to insure the fabric holds up in the sun and daily use. We were talking about having the stitching go down the left/right side instead of front/rear. So you can "two tone" the boot also.

Like I said I know its a tiny mod but Im just stoaked on the new item.

Oh I will. I told her about the "limited" colors so she can cater to those colors too. Her boyfriends Z06 is yellow so she has a few different options on that color, but alot of colors are easily ordered. She would like to be able to sell them once she feels the style/fit is to her liking.

Im glad its getting some good feedback so soon...she will be happy to hear that. :D

Well leaving it stock is easy enough, but she also want that flexability too.

I,ll give $20 to $25 for a Camo/woodland print I think that would go good with my Gernade shifter in the Camo box. And it dont need to be vinyl.

I would love one in black cherry pearl. That would make it the only thing in my box that is the same color as the outside besides the speakers in my doors. Please keep us updated on availability!!
