Front Plate, YES or NO???
ok should I leave the plate hanging on the front, or should I remove it... I am in Houston... didn't have a problem before on my Rx8... what do you think??? if I take it off I have the ugly screwholes to filll hmmm what to do???
I've paid $35 in tickets so far for not having mine (Iowa). The judge was not moved by my passionate plea about my "pure, unspoiled front bumper cover". Go figure.

It depends on the legality. If a front plate is NOT required in your jurisdiction, I would leave it off. I agree that it looks better. If it is requried, leave it on.
Keep in mind that if you don't have the front plate and the plate is required in your jurisdiction, you likely could be stopped by law enforcement for that reason alone. That could be a problem for you if you have had a few drinks! Something to think about.
Here is an unlikely but possible scenario: You are out with your friends, have a few drinks and drive home. Law enforcement stops you because you have no front plate. Officer approaches you to check your license and registration, and "detects a distinct odor of alcohol eminating from your person." You fail the field sobriety tests. You get arrested for DUI.
The offiicer had probable cause to stop you because you had no front plate and therefore violatied a rule of the road or vehicle regulation in your jurisdiction.
It really isn't worth the risk of getting stopped IF the plate is required in your jurisdiction.

^^^ STUPID response. Sorry. I don't take to 'having a few drinks' and then driving anywhere. NO DRINKS mixed with driving, ever.
My best friend in high school killed himself that way. He thought it was just a 'few drinks'. Yeah, tell that to him now.
Oh, you can't, since his head got disconected from his body when he smashed head first into the other car, and, BTW, killed those two people in that car.
Sheesh.

I'm not bashing you, your experience, or your views on it, but the way you went about sharing it was unnecessary.
EDIT: so I stay on topic...
I live in texas too, it is illegal. I don't have one because the dealer didn't install it for whatever reason(i was the only one lucky enough to make it out without one), but everytime I'm pulled over by a cop they give me a warning(no ticket yet). Keep it there, or get the brackets, it's not worth the trouble. Everytime I drive past a cop I watch to see if he'll pull a u-turn to come after me, kind of annoying.
