Default Future collectable car or not?

OK everyone here loves the box and thinks it's worthy of becoming a future automotive icon.

That said, Does anybody know how many xBs have actually been made?
I'm thinking that means the '04 (was that only selling in Cali? smaller volume then?)
the '05,'06,'06.5

So how many xbs is that total?

Everyone knows the only cars that will really shoot up in the future are very expensive hand-built cars, but for the mass-produced end this may be one (provides the actual numbers made is not through the roof)

This post has numbers sold by color... it should give you a pretty good idea.

i dont know if the 1st gen xB will ever be a collectable, but def unique. judging by the new cars, it will prob be the only foreign lookin model scion will use. i think they r headin into some new direction.

I would have to think that the first generation xB is an icon for the Scion badge. Will bone stock be more valuable?? Don't know. It will be interesting.

That's MY plan. That's why I'm keeping mine STOCK. I even kept the original (FUGLY) hubcaps so I can switch back when my xB becomes a CLASSIC . . . . ;^)

There will be no value of these cars as far as collectability. It's a cult car with a cult following.

You could say the same about the original Mini. It's still a collectable car though.
As far as bone stock, Just make sure that your mods are reversable if you every want to sell

I came up with a total of 177,100 first gen xbs sold

This topic is somewhat of a dillema for me. I have my xb for sale. It's been for sale for 6 weeks now, with no nibbles. I like the car--but it did sooooo poorly in the snow that we got in February, I really became discouraged and that's why I put it up for sale. However, I'm trying to love it again. I figure, if it's meant to be...

Default Collectable or not

Check out this thread https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=166670 I don't like catching crap for my opinion around here. I also don't want to double post the REDUNDANT information I gave

I agree it will be interesting to see over the next few years. Shorberg and I were just messing around about the future. Can you imagine searching for stock springs and hubcaps someday, like trying to find new old stock Scion parts

Put things in perspective... (taken off wikipedia)
"The Mustang sold over one million units in its first 18 months on the market."
And, it's still a collector today.

"177,100 first gen xBs sold" (thanks typhoonorchild)

I am in no way comparing an xB to a Mustang, but as for collectibility, I think it's possible. I don't even know if we will hit the 200,000 mark in first gens sold.

Something to think about

What are you talking about?! I am collecting Scions already! I have two, Rob's got three, I have more unused scion memorabilia than i know what to do with . .. .

you mean this stuff is all crap i should just throw away? lol

I think not. scion is a pretty cool brand. i think 30 years from now people will be looking for them. it won't be like people who collect normal things, but it won't be like a delta 88 either!

For the most part, the only things in life that became collectible were things that no one thought would be at the time. If you think something will be collectible and people start holding on to it, then there will end up being too many for it to be considered rare. Its like you watch these stupid shop on TV shows. They sometimes sell coins. The hosts tell you how collectible these coins will be. This is absurd. They are selling thousands of these to people who think the can store them away and they will be worth a fortune in the future. But with so many people buying and holding on to them they will more likely be worthless.

Either way the XB is AWESOME!

If Scion lasts awhile as a make the xB should be collectable in 20 years. Time will tell so just drive em now and worry about the future when it happens.

Seriously, buy some new tires. Mine absolutely destroys in the snow. I have been through some unbelievable storms in mine, plowing snow the whole way - tires are the key. If you're judging the car's snow prowess on the stock Goodyear crap, you're judging the tires...not the car. Buy a set of dealer take-off steel wheels and a set of snow tires from Tirerack.com.

What wheels/tires do you have on yours?
