Gas Price Craziness
I've had my XB only a few weeks now - traded my XTerra in knowing I was going to be upside down, but the gasoline and insurance more than makes up for it. The dealer was very reluctant to even consider the trade and when it was all said and done (after I raked them over the coals to get a good payment) he told me that I probably had another month before he and many other small dealerships wouldn't even consider taking trucks in for trades.

Don't get me wrong - I loved that truck - it was great for hauling my motorcycle and was even better than the hummer in the snow (I had one issued to me when i was a volunteer firefighter), but if that thing was getting 15 mpg, Id be shocked.
I always had my eye on the XB- it was just weird enough to grab my attention even though at 32, I don't even fit the core demographic its supposed to appeal to.. I lucked out in that I could get the deal and that it was an already customized machine that I could build from. Either way, with the prospect of 7 dollar gasoline on the horizon, I think moving from the XTerra to the XB was well worth being 'upside down.'

around here, dealers won't even look at a truck/suv/ or for that matter anything with a v6 or v8, not the small or big dealerships, I drove past the chrysler dealer, their used car lot (well over 2 acres) was packed to the point of not being able to walk between the trucks and suv's, counted maybe 20 cars, and only 2 that I know had 4cyl's

I will post this question in the whee/tire section also, so more viewers/input is resulted, but does anyone know of these "FULL MOON" aluminum wheel covers add anything to the aerodynamics of the vehicle in motion ?? Any/all information is much apreciated!

I'm sure some manufacturers have wind tunnel tested these type hubcaps at some time. My guess is that you would see some slight less wind resistance by using them. Things like that help out at Bonnieville for high speed.

seriously, though, I resent being left out of that last category. we gays have been milking (ha!) global warming for years, in order to get people into these cute queer little cars.
It's right there on the Homosexual Agenda...Number 4, right after tax breaks for glitter manufacturers.

Anyone who thinks GW is a scam is ignorant at best.
Hell, even NASA has been found censoring and suppressing scientific data on global warming in order to protect the Bush administration.

It's a SCAM believe it or not. Please do some reasearch instead of just following what you are told to believe. History does not lie. They do keep records of that sort of thing. DUH

An Inconvenient Truth was a great movie, and made me very aware of the Global Warming issues our Earth is having, but there really isn't much we can do about it. I implore anyone interested to do a search on the sun and it's affects of our planets temperature (sun spots, solar flares, UVA UVB radiation). Yes Global warming is an issue, but our ignorance as a species isn't the only problem, our sun is greatly contributing to the issue as well.

Furthermore, humans have only been recording accurate weather history for no more than a 100-150 years at best. That is not enough time to predict major climate cycles of the Earths weather. Sure we can take hints from what we find when we dig holes in the ground and such, but at that point we are just making educated guesses and not relying on raw data.
I do believe that for every action we take, there is a reaction, so yeah, on some scale I believe we contribute to global warming. The arguement should be to what extent we contribute.
I agree with the turning off talk radio and I would also say to cut out Fox News and maybe pick up a book.
An inconvenient truth isn't the only source of information on Global Warming.
Refusing to believe that we have a problem is one thing, but the thing that really scares me is whenever people say: "Global Warming doesn't matter because it is all Gods plan and he is going to come back and save us/destroy the planet one day anyways."

I dont know if God will come and save us, but Mother Earth does go through her cycles. Long before we walked this earth the earth would freeze and warm up on a regular basis. Our ( United States ) Great Lakes were formed by glaicers basically digging into the earth. When the melted they left behind fresh water lakes. Same hold true for the lakes region in NH. These same massive mountians of ice and snow also created the Appilation Mountians.
Are we contributing to more ice melting ... i cant say. I will say that we as consumers have listened to the news and have been fed misinformation more then once. Does anyone remember Red M&Ms used to cause cancer? Hows about endless studies that said eggs werent good for you, only to be over turned a couple years later.
Back to the original thought ... Saudis are calling a meeting today to talk about the high rising price of oil, and how they may end up loosing money in the long run by nations bycotting the price of crude.
