Default Gen1 xB selling experiences - what's up with all the Indians

I put my xB on the market well under KBB at 11,500 BCP with 46k miles and automatic trans.

I get a lot of calls all from people with Indian accents. They all offer about the exact same price on the car. Today I met with one and he had the nerve to try to negotiate even though my price said firm and i reminded him of that.

There was one guy who spoke perfect English who told me he was going to resell the car. He said "Dude, i'm not even going to lie to you. We ship these things over to the middle east and they turn them into taxi cabs." I'm not sure I could trust his story but he said that's what all the other guys are doing too.

Nothing racial here, just wondering why there are so many people with Indian accents trying to buy the car. The guy today said it's all Indians and Pakistanians but he didn't allude to what they were going to do with the cars.

Anybody know? Are these things destined to be taxis in the middle east somewhere?

You might have seen those overseas drag racing videos of extremely fixed up vehicles of all sorts. Maybe xBs are now the trend .

Lots of businessmen in the Middle East and Asia with wayyy to much money in their pockets. Maybe we'll see 500hp xBs zipping along 1/4 mile tracks.

Just a wild theory. Would be fun though.

I cant see why anyone from india would ship a car to the middle east. makes no sense. And most "indian and pakistanian" people are bargain hunters and will only haggle no matter what the price.

^^^ coming from another indian, i agree. LOL @ pakistanian. hahahaha...

try this one - pak-is-tan-y-an-ian! hahaha

jk - yeah, most indians will haggle like crazy but remember that there is a newer version of the xB out so, regardless of the condition/mileage of yours OR who is interested in it, you will get a low price for it.

look at it in the shoes of the buyer -do i spend 11k on a used box with nearly 50k miles on it? or do i spend a FEW more grand to get the brand-spankin-new 08?

fwiw,
- sh00k

Hah sorry guys for the confusion on Pakistanis. The heart of my question is what are they doing with the cars?

The guy who said he would ship it to the middle east was a Caucasian actually. The other callers I think they were all Indian. Why are they all Indian? They do not plan to keep the car.

Funny you guys know that bargaining mentality so well. The guy e-mailed me again trying to negotiate on the price when I have sent him 2 emails saying that the price is firm. He won't stop and I'm gonna get rude next time.

^ yeah, i hate when people try to haggle when the price is set FIRM - clearly in print. I have put up things on craigslist with firm prices and people still try to haggle and waste my time. WTF!#@#

sometimes you gotta get rude when people can't read or follow simple instructions......

You should have originally listed your box at 12,500 and let them "haggle" you down to 11,500. That way, everybody would have been happy in the end.

Gawd, I hope they don't start shipping them overseas. We need them to stay here for future parts vehicles. FTW
