Default GETTING A NEW XB

I am test driving an XB tomorrow. If all goes well, I will be getting a 2006 XB Release? Does that sound right? I think it's a fair price, and I really need the better gas mileage. My concern is that I am driving a Chevy Trailblazer right now which is very comfortable, I just can't afford the gas. How big is the XB on the inside? I'm 6' 235lbs (but I'm going on a diet tomorrow). Will I fit? Also, how is the typical gas mileage? I drive mostly highway to work and back. Any comments are greatly appreciated.

It is a tiny car, but your should fit no problem, front or back.

They are sort of like Dr. Who's "Tardis." Small, flat sided, angular exterior, and an inside larger than the outside. You will be very surprised.

Besides all the practical good points, they are FUN.

You'll love it. Where are you getting it from? what color? If you're getting a release series then it'll be a special, more expensive color (orange, yellow, green, torched penny) Good luck! I think you'll find that its alot bigger inside than it looks.

I'm test driving a used xB in Bremerton. If I like it they will order one for me. I'm not sure where it's coming from. The color is "Scorched Penny". It sounds like everyone is very enthusiastic about there vehicles. I like that. It will be a daily commuter for me. 50 miles round trip. My 1991 Volvo died on me. I'm hoping this vehicle will take me into retirement!

You will love it for commuting. I'd suggest getting a regular one unless you ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE that color. The stuff in the pkg is kinda lame for the extra costs involved. Get it as stock as possible to keep payments low and add mods later for much less$$$$s.

I think you will be very surprised at the room inside...I sat in one and that was all it took. I've had 5 adults inside without complaints, moved several large pieces of furniture, even lounged comfortably at the Drive-In....They are a great commuter car and besides that a lot of fun. Even with 18 inch wheels I am averaging 30+ MPG.

Dude, do my diet - it's strict as hell but being very strict with your body is what gets you results.

For about a month or 2, eat only veggies (all types, steamed/raw/ - NO DRESSING) and fruits only! once a week, have a foot long veggie sub from subway - no cheese. eat a pound or more of salad if you still feel hungry. for dessert, or even as a meal, have huge fruit salads!!! take centrum once a day too. the only liquids you should have are water and coffee (skim milk, no sugar/splenda, etc). once a week or so, diet soda is fine.

basically cut out flour based stuff (bread, cakes), sugars and dairy. Once those 3 are out of your system for a while, the results are awesome!

I was 270lbs at my high (im 6'1") and I'm now down to about 195 (my lowest was 184 but I can't stay away from taco bell =P)

Best of luck on the diet dude. I know this is strict and many people will laugh and say its unrealistic but if you want to get out of the hole that you're in, just like how i felt, then you will do what it takes to succeed.

this diet is very very strict but it's not like you're going to do this for life - it's only a couple of months. when i was about to cheat on many occasions, i just told myself that the end of the diet is around the corner and that i could wait til then. this probably isn't approved by doctors but doctors are not in the position where they need to lose 70lbs. as long as you listen to your body during the diet (eat when hungry, dont starve yourself, eat 4x a day), you'll do fine.

for my diet, exercising is optional but helps a TON when coupled with my diet. for the 2 months i did the diet, i ran a mile a night about 4 times a week. i started off where i walked a mile in 18 minutes!!! my personal best now has been a 9 minute mile and im working on getting into the 8s (without nitrous! lol, jk)

best of luck,
- sh00k

Seconded. I had a '96 Blazer, and the xB is COLOSSAL compared to the front and backseats I had. My boyfriend-at-the-time when I switched cars was 6'6", and he fit just fine.

Also, look carefully while you're test-driving...you're still at eye level with people in minivans and suvs. Also, the xB is super-nimble, and the first time you fill up you'll drop to your knees weeping. Trust me; I've been there.

Just be prepared to park the car with an extra three feet on either side. It's been two years and I still haven't gotten used to it.

1 trust me, size is never the issue w the xb! in 6' 250 and its as comphy as hell! and as for your crash diet? try something more logical, like limiting portions and working out. as wonderful as a crash diet may seem, it is unhealthy, dangerous and nearly impossible to do. on the other hand, going for walks and limiting portions is easy as pie. jst my 2 cents.

and gratz on getting the last generations of xB1! now come the xB2, you can also wait for that if you want... not too much more.... xb2 or x2b?

I'm 6'1" and 221 and fit just fine. I do fit better in my F-250 SD Crew cab, but I do love the xB for it's gas mileage, and it's just so awesome looking. I bought the xB Release Series 4.0 about a month ago and love it. The color is actually called Torched Penny, not scorched. Anyway, mine just had to go to the shop for a new a/c compressor. the gearing blew apart inside and some of the mounting bolts hd some threads showing, in which it was about to fall off. Nevertheless, they put me in a rent a car awaiting my part from Japan. They did not have one in stock because they have not seen this type of problem yet. Oh well, I'll drive a little Corolla for awhile,it's free, but the Corolla is a tight fit though.

Im a big man. (6'2" ~330...yeah im dieting tomorrow too.. lol) and I drive 100+ highway miles a day, it's really comfy. My only suggestion is that you get an armrest for it. Your arm will definitely thank you. I drive with my hands at...10. Yep, just one. the left arm resting on the window, steering and the right arm... mostly resting on the other seat or holding my coffee. Im ordering an armrest this week. Even without the armrest it's comfy tho. :D

With my foot buried in the floor (I like to drive fast) i get about 32mpg, bu it's mostly highway.

I'm 6'7" and well let's just say I've got all of you beat. Fatness (width) wise I fit perfectly fine, doors shut, I can operate the 5 speed, and the person riding shotgun isn't even close to me (even if it was another me next to me, I would be fine). I did move the seat off the original mounts, to the floor and about 2 inches further back. I didn't "have to" do this, but I drove around for a week or so in stop and go traffic and was like I would like to stretch my legs a bit, so it did it.

I would think anyone under 6'5" would have absolutely no problem driving this car (depending on your leg/torso proportions). You would have to be packing some serious poundage, like friggin Ralphie May, or that one dude on the TLC show before it would be an issue fitting in.

My last ride was a "bro-tastic" Powerstroke F-250 on 37's and I would say after moving the seat my box is just as comfortable...

get the box.

I am somewhat of a big fella, 6'1" 260lbs, lost 15 lbs since going to college, anwho

I fit perfeclty in the xB, a reason why i didnt get the xA, is because i couldnt fit, so i got the next best thing, the xB. I suggest a trick i found on SL, stick 5 washers under the front seat bolts, relieves a lot of the strain on the thighs, since they sit high in the xB

Thanks for all the great responses. I test drove an automatic today and found out there is plenty of room. The dealership was trying to jack me on the trade-in but I hung tough. I ended up getting a 2007 xB Release 4.0 in Torched Penny for $350 less than what I thought my best case scenario would be. I should have it by Friday since they have to get it from another dealer. One more question. I saw an aftermarket sway-bar for $125 on a website. It said I could mount it myself in minutes. Is this true, and does it improve performance at all? Finally, I'm starting my diet tomorrow, not today, as previously mentioned. I encountered a piece of cake at the Circle K.
