Default Getting xB from factory in custom colors?

Is it possible?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...936449784&rd=1

My sister would buy a scion right now if she could get it in that color.

Any ideas?

Nope... that is the stock Jada toys color palette. They don't have Black Cherrry Pearl paint. You can have it any color that you want at Scion as long as it's the 5 colors that they sell. + of course the Hot Lava.

Yah, they need to expand their color base.

Several people have expressed that they would buy one right now if they offered a different varity of colors..

Why not buy one and have it painted? I really nice paint job is $2G's or less. I don't recall how much the Hot lava cost, but I'm sure that if you truely want a xB in a certain color, you'll get it painted.

Then your wonderful $15,000 jumps to $17,000. Of course people are painting there cars out there, but if you are really Scions target group...every penny counts :?

Just a guess, but to do the paint RIGHT, it would cost a bit more than $2G.. I mean, to get EVERYTHING painted like it should be, they would practically have to take the body off..

I've had SEVERAL cars painted professionally, and the Fiero cost $1300, and the Vette cost $2000... and that's door sills and everything. Mind you this is in Florida, so it might vary state to state, but not too much. Shop around.

Scion would have been better off if they had went with the colors that they have on the bB in Japan. Why they went with the ones they did only the exectives that decided know.

color choices are based on what sells in the region. do you really think they just decide not to sell a certain color just to be jerks? it all has to do with money.

Their color choices had MORE to do with resale. They are cars for KIDS not OLDER PEOPLE that buy lexus and toyotas. If they had asked their target age group what colors they wanted, we would have had a better array of choices than we do thats for sure!

I actually read somewhere that it would cost Toyota just as much money, if not a little more to offer the XB in primer. Go figure :?

Offering it in primer doesn't help much.

A lot of the cost of paint is prep work, not spraying. This is taking the car apart, taping things off, etc. Even if the car were offered in primer (a matte black xA was shown at one point, I think an xB as well), it would still cost for a complete paint job.

To do it right you would need to:
  • Remove all body panels (doors, fenders, hood, hatch, etc)
  • Remove engine/transmission
  • Remove all drive components
  • Remove all glass
  • Remove interior
  • Also remove anything bolted to a painted surface

Now you rough up the base, fix any problems and you can start to spray.

Then you have to put it back together.

Is this how most color changes are done? No. But this is the right way. Otherwise you get places (like under the hood) that don't match.

So this costs much money, no matter what color/type paint you started with.

Also, it will lower your trade-in value. It might make it easy for a straight re-sale, but car dealers tend to see repaints as covering damage (so do a lot of people buying cars).

Anyway, just some factoids. :D
