Is this a gimmick?
I saw this on ebay and was wondering if it is true or not. Any insight to the product would be very helpful.

To me it seems like a big joke but I could be wrong.....I have been a few times in my life.

It's a scam. If you look they have them available for almost any car that uses a MAF to set the fuel ratio. You can buy enough resistors to make 10 of those kits from Radio Shack for about .99. What it is is a resistor that "tricks" the MAF into thinking it is taking in colder air than what it actually is. This causes the engine to adjust the fuel/air ratio leaner, which is how it increases the horsepower. The problem is that the air is not actually cooler, so your engine is not running properly. This could lead to detonation. So, my advice, stay away.

Whatup Javageek!
The wire in the MAF sensor gets a certain amount of voltage going to it all all times. It is designed to keep that wire at a certain tempature. The colder the air coming in,the more voltage that is sent to that wire to keep it at said tempature. The computer measures the voltage that is being sent to the MAF and adjusts accordingly.
Did that make sense?
Yes,it will work for a short time. The MAF system is not the only system used.Your computer will eventually figure out what is going on.
Dont even bother with it!
