Default The Good and the Bad of it ( RS1 )

Well boys and girls, i just got off the phone with my Scion dealer, and much to my dismay, i may have to go postal. Doc, insisted that i check with my dealer to make sure that i was still on the list to get the limited amount of RS1s slated to come to the NorthEast in Feb. ( less then the 250 intially planned ). my dealer just returned my call to inform me that im looking like April for deilvery! His reply, " the fact that your order went in late when it did." Im thinking late, i ordered it New Years Day @ 10 in the morning! Is it possible that everyone else and their mothers ordered the RS1 between 12/29/03 and 1/1/04, and my order was considered late?

Any help from those that know would be greatly appreciated. I think its too late now to start looking at other dealers for the RS1, and i may have to wait yet another month.

I don't know if other dealers are getting a memo that I'm missing, but I have no idea how they can quote you on that.

As of right now I have no idea how many I'll be allocated, and no idea when they'll get here. Alls I know is that Scion.com says March, and that there will be 324 of them to split between the dealers in our region.

Your salesman is either packing the numbers to play it safe, or a clairvoyant.

packing numbers in what way? I would love nothing more then to have the xB in March, and have it a month earlier then he is telling me, but if everyone ( Doc, Quiksilver) else is getting theirs in March, and mine isnt here till April ... May ... June, then ill be really ____ed. I should be like the 3rd guy here on the East Coast that put his order in EARLY thanks to this site.

I cant help but wonder if my dealer didnt put my order in late. Maybe if he sat on it for a while, and then put it through ... i dunno. He did acknowledge that there was the first shipment of rs1s headed here in mid to late Feb., but then told me that since my order was late, that i would see my deivery in April.

For those dealers out there, is there some kind of paper trail or tracking number that i can physically have from the dealer to see when he actually ordered the rs1 for me? Do you guys think i should hold tight, or persue this issue and possibly get Scion involved?

Default Release

Hey, I just talked to my Scion dealer and said that the area rep. was in last friday and told them that the release of the RS 1.0 is probably going to be in early April.

Has anyone else heard any other times yet?

Poor Doc, what about poor CB? Must be nice to be Feb. 3rd and to have your Black Cherry Pearl.

I couldnt help to wonder a while ago and even asked Jay about the possibilties that the rs1 wouldnt be ready for release by March. If you do the math, it just doesnt add up. Between Jan and Feb, there are 60 days. If the plant in Japan was turning out 30 ( realistically i think this is a high number, 1.25 an hour, running 24 hours, 7 days a week) a day, that would still only give you 1800 units. This is still 300 units shy of the 2100 mark, making it another 10 days to fill the entire Release Series 1.0 order. Then you figure 2 weeks to ship ( your now looking at mid March just to get them in port ). Then even if they busted their asses to load them via train and truck, that is another week just to get them to the dealer. Take into consideration weather, delays, etc. that puts us into the first week of April. My dealer may be right, what sux though, is now im using my lil NEON for work, and space in it is tighter then the Accent that i finally sold last weekend.

I highly doubt that they started making them after the press release. Notice, these cars are already out in JPN, I am willing to bet that almost all if not all of them were made around the time of the press release. Shipped the first of the year, with 4-6 weeks on the boat, and bam, in port within the next few weeks and out to the dealers the first of March. I understand your math, but it doesn't make sence to do business that way. Scion Corp is smarter than that! Soon my friends, soon!!!

Does anyone think that scion Corp might wait till the official start of spring to release the 1.0s? It is set for March 20th. They were sticklers on the Feb. 3rd thing, surely they won't be on teh RS 1.0.

Any comments or swift backhands welcome.

My one question is who told you March 20th? And Please, please don't say my dealer!!! Dealers across the US have different answers to many of the same questions. We have some dudes dad who works at corporate, we have some dealers who "talked to corporate", we have dealers who don't know squat, and we have dealers who elect not to give any information until it is true, factual, confirmed information(these are the professionals)....

My point is, if you read the 500 posts regarding the RS1.0 you could write 50 pages of different information passed down from "dealers".....

That being said... today is February 3rd, the Scion website says march. No doubt many of the 2100 RS's are already claimed. It would be odd for them to come up with a change of plans now, or a new rule....
My advice has not changed, just sit back and wait...we are all extremely excited about the arrival of the RS1, but the rumors and heresay are running rampant around here.

I hope that the excitment continues, and that the rumors die down...while some of us have awesome dealers working for us, others have Scionicly challenged dealers and are struggling to find information on a regular xB, let alone a RS1.

Good luck to all who hope to receive one, and may the Lava be with you!!!

My dealer has told me exactly the same thing from day one, just wait, your guaranteed one since you were the first in this area. I know the excitement is running very high and rumors rampant, so, I am just going to wait and see when it comes in and pray that it is very, very soon.

Oh, if your wondering how the heck I got that wacko March 20th date; it is because the Scion website states the release date for the 1.0 is "Spring 2004." Spring officially begins on March 20th, 2004. I sure hope they don't hold to that.

Thanks for your uplifting words that you always give when we get down about the 1.0s

Eric

Default Hot Lava XB

The hot Lava XB will be split between dealers
. Each will get so many About four .First come first served. Also release date in california is March 4.The dealers sould recieve them as soon as the accesorys are installed at port.Their are a little more that 500 dealers in the united states .So if you were on the list first you will get it first at your dealer. But I wouldn't be supprised some of them will cheat for their friends.

Default Just so you know...

My Scion xB was built on December 3, 2003 and I took delivery of the car January 9, 2004. The car was delivered to the dealer the day before, I know that since I saw them install the lips and wheel coevers and remove the plastic sheets from the body.

Default XB Lava

My dealer told me when I ordered one. They pay a couple hundred thousand dollars just to become a scion dealer. And not all dealers qualify to be a seller for Scion. And the interactive chat room on the Scion site. The rep answered all the questions I wanted. They will release Lava Orange on march 4 in California . And other states after that . Also my dealer wasn't doing his job by not keeping up to date so the Rep called him for me to make sure he didn't screw up anymore deals. I asked for another salesman. Thats when the owner took over and made sure everthing was done correctly. He did not want any more calls like that from Scion.
