Default Got swiped the other day, lost driver mirror

The other day I was at a friends house for about 30 mins. Parked on the curb. I don't usually like parking on curbs, but this time I did since I thought I'd only be in for a few minutes. Come outside and sure enough there was one of those big blue plastic trashcans sitting dead in the middle of the street!

At a glance there was no damage to my car. Suddenly, I noticed my driver's side mirror was gone!! This happend at about 11pm so it was dark. Upon further investigation I noticed there were streaks on the whole side of my car and a ding about the size of a thumb on the edge of my passenger door. So far, the streaks seem to be plastic residue from the trashcan and I managed to remove a bit of them with my bare fingers. I havn't had the time to to take care of the rest since I want to do it right to decrease further damage. The ding sucks but at least it's in a less noticeable spot.

The mirror part really sucks. That trashcan must have been traveling at a pritty high speed. It swipped my car, tore off the mirror. And I mean it tore that sucker right off! The black piece that connects onto the actually mirror unit just cracked right off. Beyond repair. Now I have to hunt down a new or used one. Preferably a used one but I have no idea how I can go about.

Does anyone here happend to have a spare one I can purchase? I have a Polar White XB.

Default ....Bad can hit...

Bad luck. The can (only) hit the driver's side of your car? Took out the mirror, too bad.
And this is your first post? Bad way to start. But you should be able to score a mirror from someone who is upgrading to mirrors with directional signals in them. You need 50 posts before you can place a 'want to buy' ad in the classified section, but I guess I could post an ad there for you, if you want me to.
The link below is for two mirrors, new from newscion.com:
http://www.newscionparts.com/product/?id=1049
You may want to upgrade if you can not find a donar and you have an extra $235.
Let me know, reply to this post. List any price limits. XB Polar White Right?
About the other damage, on the rear driver's side door? Is that the 'passinger' position you mean? Can you buff it out? Or compound it? Good luck with the repairs, YANNE.
Update your profile then play us a tune on your flute.

Hey XBHAWK, thanks for the reply. I'm not too good when it comes with buffing out scratches and stuff. But I've asked my brother to help me out and he hasn't had the time off to do so yet. But it'll eventually get done. As for the small ding, he told me to call one of those paintless dent remover services. It's just a quarter sized dent right behind the driver's door handle but located on the passanger's door. That area looks busy so it's not extremely noticeable.

Thanks for the link as well! I'm going to follow up on that.

Hello XbHawk, I tried all day and yesturday night searching far and wide to see if I can come across any used driverside mirrors but came up short. I can't seem to find even 1 available. And I'm definately not going to purchase the $235 upgrade version only to get swiped again.

I'll take you up on your offer to help me find one in the SL classified? If it's not too much trouble that would be awesome!

What $235 upgrade are you talking about? Are the mirrors on the Rs2 (with turn indicator on them) available in other colours? If so, I would like to get em myself. All of the aftermarket mirrors are significantly smaller than the stock.

Yeah, the wires were definately damaged. It got ripped right off. But I doubt that's the main problem. The thing is...the black part of the mirror (I guess it's the mount?) snapped in half and cannot be repaired. The glass mirror piece also broke off.

I went to check out some of those aftermarket mirrors but I just didn't like the style. They're way cheaper, but the style just don't do it for me.

Let me get this correct, I can order these covers, remove the mirrors from my current covers and in them in the chrome cover myself? Hell, it is worth the $260. The chrome would look good on my black box.

Default Your Classified AD expired....

Yennie, you did not bump your AD and now it is gone. You needed to post a reply to keep it alive if no one else replies. I came back to the board and I see it is gone.
Do you want another? Or are you looking on EBAY?

Same thing happened to me about a year and a half ago... I got the blue bB mirrors and have been really happy with them. I think I paid around $170 from Carson for the set of two... if anyone needs a stock passenger side mirror.....
