Besides, if I sold here there is NOTHING ELSE on the US market that is an adequate replacement, so I'd be right back to getting another Polar White or possible an RS2, but would not know it's prior history, and would not likely be able to find one with as low a mileage and good care. (Vanilla's even always been bathed in fresh synthetic lube and exclusively eats Top Tier fuel... she's had a good life, and I'm not sure I could trust how another was treated.)

If there were actually a viable replacement for the xB Classic, MAYBE I'd sell Vanilla, but unless something like the current bB/Materia makes it into this country, there is unlikely to be a replacement. (The bB/Materia has side airbags and other improvements on the same basic UUV design. I'd DEFINITELY buy one of those.)

Very good news. I have an '05 xb with around 36k miles and I was thinking of trading her in. I'm on the fence since I ordered it and waited three months for the boat to arrive from Japan and it's been a great vehicle. I still have two years of payments on it and I'm just looking to get out from the monthly note.

ZOMGXB 07-11-2008 11:08 AM

hmmmm, gen 1's routinely go for more used than they did new.

gen 2's have continued to fall short of the peaks established by the classic's last four months of sales...by some 20%.

no, it's not just you. the question is, has toyota noticed?

Puz06xB 07-11-2008 03:06 PM

Don't think Toyota has noticed yet... but I think Nissan might have LOL!

We keep imagining what the "US Cube" might look like, and come up with things like this:

http://tijil.org/brown_cube_flip.jpg

When instead we will probably get the new re-design of it that was leaked - the melted bar of soap...

http://tijil.org/nissan-cube-redesign-flip.jpg

I'd have to see that in person to know if I could stomach it.

I'd still like to see Toyota/Scion bring in the Materia to the states...

BUT, for right now I'm happy with my xB and pleased that it is holding it's value exceptionally well.

Here's another...

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/car/754283441.html

05 with 50k miles for $15k!

Wonder how much they end up selling for.

evosky 07-14-2008 04:13 PM

yeah ... i'm never going to sell the box.
even if it does go past 20K, it just has too much endearing value and intangibles to let go.

captdownshift 07-14-2008 05:43 PM

i'd let mine go for in the neighborhood of 17,000

i've recently listed it for less but i'd really rather sell my sti then my xb. the xb is a much better daily driver then the sti and is fun to drive if you're doing it right
