That's a joke, right? Ford lost $1.6 billion in North America in 2005, well before the boycott was in place.

Ford sold 180,000 vehicles in just the month of November (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15989376/) , and that's still a huge dip for them. If you think this has aaaanything to do with the measly 50,000 people (less than the population of two high schools in my town, btw), you seriously need to take a statistics class. Maybe if it was fifty MILLION people, it would matter. Besides, who ISN'T the AFA boycotting these days? Nobody cares.

I can't believe Ford is even bothering to return their phone calls, considering how insignificant the AFA's constituents are in comparison to the dollar of the previously-untapped ___ advertising market. Or any of Ford's OTHER massive problems, for that matter.

PM me if you want to discuss it further. Otherwise, why don't you keep your unresearched political opinions off ScionLife, and just talk about xB's here.

Maybe you should stop and realize MOST car companies compete for "___ dollars". INCLUDING Scion.

They SPONSOR the San Fransisco ___ Parade, including providing cars and giving one away each year. They also sponsor the Seattle ___ Pride Parade, The LA ___ Pride Parade, The PlanetOut Short Movie Awards in Miami, and the site Gaywheels.com

Oh yeah, and the tC was just voted the gayest car of the year for 2007 at about.com.

So you probably want to ditch your Scion, ASAP. You can leave it in my driveway.

Uh, just checking if I'm interpreting this correctly... "American Family" is the "American Family Association," the dedicated-if-not-totally-ineffective fundamentalist organization, and "misplaced ads in lifestyle mags" means "OMG THEY DON'T HATE ___ PEOPLE. OMG."

Is that about right?
Yes, that's right. They don't "Hate" them. They just don't want others to patronize a company that advertises in ___ mags. It's all about Family Values. You know MORALS

You can have your own opinions about them but they seem to be making a big difference in Ford profit losses.
OMG what a jerk! Lol, where is this guy from, Tennessee?

EDIT: Oh, wow.. he is from Tennessee... nuff said!

a boycott from Family Values is nothing to Ford....they are losing money because of ...

-rapidly shrinking SUV and Truck market

-the only small car they have has been on the market for 7+ years (focus)

-because they have to keep UAW workers busy (or pay them not to work) they have to keep building BS that no one wants. this also makes importing there European models (which are all pretty hot) very hard.

they are NOT losing money because of a magazines boycott....thats just ignorant.

(PS...who cares if someone is ___. and how is it a magazines responsibility to say where Ford can and cant put ads...)

I'm from TN. I live in Chicago now, but the 23 years before my move, I was in TN. If we're going to make blanket statements, then I'll just say that PA has more backwoods, uneducated, right-wing nut jobs than anything in TN. Talk directly about the guy if you want to say something, but don't pack an entire state into your experience of just one person.

For the record, I'm middle of the road.

rant off...

Um, back on topic....

I tried selling my 2005 RS2 xB for almost 6 months with no bites at all, advertising in AutoTrader.com, AutoLocator, Craigslist, ScionLife and even eBay!

I had it appraised at a few dealers, and was given a low of $9500 to a high of $11,000 for a trade.

I was told by one dealer that the fact that is was an RS meant nothing in resale, and most people don't want a yellow car, that's why they couldn't give me a lot for it b/c they would have a tough time selling it.

So I ended up trading it for $11,000 on a 2007 tC (luckily I didn't have to roll TOO much into the new car). Gayest car of 07? How appropriate.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck.

Yeh, Atomic TC, that's part of the reason my xB is TCM...

Brilliant yellow doesn't seem to have universal appeal as a car color...
